LSU's updated injury report before heading to Missouri

LSU heads into this week’s game in need of a bounce back win to get back on track, but will be without a handful of key players in the contest. Here’s the updated injury report from Brian Kelly on Thursday evening.
WR Chris Hilton – Doubtful
LB Omar Speights – Doubtful
WR Aaron Anderon – Doubtful
Hilton seemingly was injured on the final play of the game, going up to catch the game-winning pass before being hit to jar the ball loose and coming down awkwardly. Speights has been battling a hip flexor injury over the past few weeks and reaggravated that in LSU’s loss to Ole Miss. Aaron Anderson has had a hamstring injury bothering him for the past two weeks which Brian Kelly said could be tricky to deal with.
Wide receiver Kyren Lacy was not included in the injury report, presumably indicating that he was going to be active and suited up for the contest on Saturday. The receiver position is already thin with the absence of Hilton and Anderson, it’s likely Lacy gets a lot of run as the third receiver on the field. Freshman receiver Shelton Sampson could also get back into the rotation this week with the injuries on hand.
At linebacker, Speights returned from his hip flexor injury against Ole Miss, but is back on the injury report this week. His absence would force freshman Whit Weeks back into the lineup alongside Greg Penn at linebacker. Weeks has been one of the more dynamic players on the Tigers’ defense and brings a different element from Penn and Speights.

LSU has otherwise stayed healthy on the injury front, with both lines of scrimmage featuring ample depth and options as the Tigers head into game No. 6 on the year. Quarterback Jayden Daiels continues to take hits, but continues to pop right back up. Tight end Mason Taylor has spent the last two weeks getting back to 100 percent and looked excellent last week against Ole Miss.
In a game with a lot on the line, LSU goes in hopeful that a few injuries won’t be the reason for a loss and that the built-in depth at the two positions can do enough to get the road win.
“They’re well coached,” Kelly said. “(Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz) does a great job coaching both on the offensive side of the ball. I think defensively they are as well coached that I’ve seen. Fundamentally sound. Do a great job in terms of all the fundamentals, and then they’ve got some big-time playmakers. The quarterback is playing extremely well, highly efficient. Luther Burden, you put him up there with with Malik Nabers. He’s that kind of player. He’s explosive, he leads the SEC in receptions obviously, so he is a game -breaker. They’re tough and physical on the offensive line do a great job running the outside zone play action. And a high percentage passing game. No. 1 in the SEC and pass efficiency. So, playing at home. Really good offense. Excellent system. As I said, well coached.”
