Another LSU star wide receiver is getting his recognition as New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers has been named a pro bowler after his incredible debut season in the NFL.

Nabers was named to the 2025 Pro Bowl Games on Monday as a replacement for Detroit’s Amon-Ra St. Brown, who is unable to participate due to injury.

Nabers, originally named a second alternate, is the Giants’ first Pro Bowl wide receiver since Odell Beckham, Jr. was selected to his third in a row in 2016. He is the first Giants rookie Pro Bowler since Beckham in 2014. Both Nabers and Beckham were Giants first-round draft choices from LSU.

Nabers, the sixth overall selection in last year’s NFL Draft, was the Giants’ most productive and exciting player in their recently concluded 2024 season.

Despite missing two early-season games with a concussion, Nabers set a franchise record with 109 receptions, two more than Steve Smith’s former franchise record of 107, set in 2009. He totaled 1,204 receiving yards and scored seven touchdowns.

The 109 catches placed him fifth in the NFL and his 1,204 receiving yards was the league’s seventh-highest total.

Nabers’ 109 receptions are the most by a rookie wide receiver in NFL history, topping the 105 catches the Rams’ Puka Nacua tallied in 2023. That is the second-highest total among all rookies, trailing only Las Vegas tight end Brock Bowers, who caught 112 this season. Nabers finished with 18 more catches than the previous Giants rookie record of 91, shared by Beckham and Saquon Barkley (2018).

Nabers had at least five receptions in 14 of the 15 games in which he played, the most games with five or more catches by a rookie in NFL history, surpassing the former standard of 12, set by New England’s Terry Glenn in 1996 and tied by Arizona’s Anquan Boldin in 2003.

Nabers’ 1,204 receiving yards are the ninth-highest total in Giants history and the second most by a Giants rookie, behind only Beckham’s 1,305 yards in 2014. Nabers and Beckham are the only rookies in Giants history with 1,000+ receiving yards.

Finally, Nabers’ seven touchdown catches tied him with Bobby Johnson (1984) for the fourth-highest total by a Giants rookie.

The Pro Bowl Games are a multi-day AFC vs. NFC event that will feature 88 of the NFL’s top players in several skills competitions and a flag football game. The first series of skills competitions will take place on Thursday at several venues in Central Florida. The flag football game will be played Sunday at Camping World Stadium in Orlando. Peyton and Eli Manning will be the head coaches for their respective conferences for the third consecutive season.
