Malik Nabers shares secret of LSU's production of NFL receiving talent

Four former LSU receivers earned Pro Bowl selections this year amid a record-setting NFL season for former Tigers’ pass-catchers.
And New York Giants rookie Malik Nabers, fresh off a franchise-record season, shared some thoughts on his alma mater’s secret to producing such high-level talent and success from the position.
“I mean, I think it’s the crawfish,” Nabers joked with NBC Sports’ “Fantasy Football Happy Hour” during Super Bowl week. “I think it’s all the seafood that goes into that.”
Nabers, the former Comeaux star and Southside graduate, went on to share his more serious answer, speaking to the bar and legacy that have been set there through the Tigers’ recent generations.
“We have that when you go into that room, you see all those guys on the wall and you want to be one of those guys that’s all the wall,” he said. “I mean, how could you not want to be a receiver that goes to LSU? You know, they’ve got Odell (Beckham Jr.), Jarvis (Landry), they’ve got all those guys that’s there and when they came out they did a lot of tremendous things. So it forces all the receivers to want to become one of them.

“So, I mean, as the generations come and they see that we always want to be on that receiver wall — you know, be an all-American and then when you get to the league, you always wanna do something when you get here.”
Landry wrapped up a nine-year NFL career with the hometown New Orleans Saints in 2022, but his LSU teammate Beckham remained active as the old veteran in the memorable professional season for former Tigers.
Younger veterans Ja’Marr Chase and Justin Jefferson of the Cincinnati Bengals and Minnesota Vikings, respectively, and rookies Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr. of the Jacksonville Jaguars helped lead the charge in breaking records for most receiving yards and touchdowns in a season by alumni of a single college program.
