Myles Brennan absent from LSU practice, Garrett Nussmeier active
LSU quarterback Myles Brennan was absent from practice on Monday as reporters were able to see there were just three signal callers in Joe Sloan’s group.
Brennan was with the team at Top Golf this weekend for an outing so the news could be something, but could be nothing, at this stage. There is no media availability on Monday.
Quarterbacks Jayden Daniels, Garrett Nussmeier and Brennan are battling for the starting quarterback job. True freshman Walker Howard is also working with the group.
Offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock gave a timeline for the decision to be made last week. As he points out, the decision belongs to Brian Kelly.

It’s likely going to come when the Tigers need to buckle down and get ready to win games this season, though it could happen earlier. Could Myles Brennan have some intel into that decision?
“There comes a line of demarcation of we’ve got to get ready to win game one and who gives us the best opportunity to do that,” Mike Denbrock said. “We’re not, as you know, anywhere close to that yet but those decisions will be made by Coach Kelly, obviously, when that cutoff happens. And, hopefully, it’s an easy decision.
“Maybe somebody actually really separated themselves enough where it’s so obvious that the decision happens sooner. Maybe there’s two guys that are just battling each other and it’s awesome–maybe it’s three. The more the merrier at times. But we also got to get ready to play the season and get ready to win football games.”
