Nation's No. 1 ATH Terry Bussey taking in LSU visit
2024 Timpson (Tex.) athlete Terry Bussey is at LSU unofficially on Tuesday for his first visit to Baton Rouge. The Tigers are turning up the heat on the five-star prospect.
He took an official visits to Oklahoma last weekend and officially heads to Texas this weekend. TCU, Texas A&M, Oregon, Oklahoma, Nebraska, LSU, Texas, Alabama, Tennessee, Auburn, and Florida make up his Top 11. The Aggies lead the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine for him.
Bussey also plans to take an official visit to Baton Rouge this fall. LSU’s push is led by safeties coach Kerry Cooks. The Tigers could see him at multiple positions.
“There’s a lot of excitement,” Bussey told On3’s Sam Spiegelman this week. “I have a big family that’s big LSU fans, so it’s gonna make some of them very happy to see me there. Overall, I can’t wait to see it for myself and see if it’s somewhere I can see myself playing in the future.”
He’s excited to see Baton Rouge to get a better feel for the environment.
“Just want to see what it’s like, what the atmosphere is like,” Bussey said. “See what the people there are like and what it’s all about really. They had a pretty good year this year. They had a freshman come in that was really, really good so that was good to see.”
Scouting report on Terry Bussey
East Texas all-around monster of a football player who plays all over the field. Will line up at quarterback and gash defenses with his legs. At safety he can cover sideline to sideline as well as stick his face into traffic as a run defender. Sticky in coverage as a corner. Tracks the ball naturally as a wide receiver and makes defenders miss in a phone booth in the return game. But the thing that jumps off the screen most is his natural athleticism.

“Stands in at just over 5-foot-10, 180 pounds with a 6-foot-2 wingspan. Ran a 4.42 electronically-timed 40-yard dash during the spring camp circuit prior to his senior season. Also jumped a 30-inch vertical, a 9-foot-5 broad jump and ran a 4.32 short shuttle at the same event. Jumped 45 feet in the triple jump and ran a 22.61 200m during his junior track and field season. Rare combination of top-tier explosiveness and fluidity.
“Strong basketball player averaging 19.6 points per game as well as 7 rebounds per game. Has all the athletic tools to excel at the next level and beyond on either side of the ball. More natural fit seems to be corner due to lack of true high-point ability due to size and rare fluidity combined with his top-end speed. Named 2022 Mr. Texas Football after his junior season. One of the youngest prospects in the 2024 recruiting cycle, should technically be in the 2025 recruiting class.”
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Bussey ranks as the No. 17 overall prospect in the nation, No. 2 athlete in the country and No. 4 prospect in Texas.
On3 is highest on him, ranking him as the No. 16 overall prospect nationally and No. 1 athlete in America.
