Podcast: Kim Mulkey joins the show with sights on another title
The Bengal Tiger hosted an exclusive one-on-one interview with LSU women’s basketball head coach Kim Mulkey on Wednesday morning talking about her new roster, the excitement of this season, and the competitions in practice.
Here’s a link to the video on our YouTube Channel:
Mulkey and her team begin practice on Monday, Sept. 25 and will hold practice open to the public to watch. The reigning champs have an exciting new roster with four freshmen and two transfers joining the team as LSU replaces three starters in Alexis Morris, LaDahzia Williams, and Jasmine Carson from last year’s title team. The work was put in over the summer, but now the whole team is on campus and Mulkey is getting her first opportunity to work with the women.

Here’s what she had to say about the offseason on the podcast.
“I don’t have mandatory team workouts. The way I’ve approached it for years is if you want to be here for summer and summer school we will have individual workouts and always have strength and conditioning available to do stuff with you. We had a lot of kids stay and workout, S’Myah Smith especially stayed here all summer and wanted to be in the weight room. Then we had freshmen players come in and returning players come in. A lot of our returning players doing their NIL stuff in the summer. I have, since school has started, been able to work with them a couple of times a week. We will officially start on the 25th which is Monday and I’m looking forward to it. It’s an exciting time with all the newcomers, all the transfers, all the freshmen, the returning players. I know things are hopping around at LSU and it’s a brand like no other right now and we’re a part of that.”
Now, things pick up in a hurry once the first practices begin. The start to the season is just a month and a half away as LSU faces Colorado to start the year in Las Vegas on Nov. 6. LSU had never won a national title, but this year enter the season as the preeminent favorites as they look to repeat as champs this season.
