4-star S Ryan Yaites headed to LSU after inking NLI

2023 Denton (Tex.) Guyer defensive back Ryan Yaites wrapped up his recruitment by signing with LSU on Wednesday, the first day of the early signing period.
Yaites’ official visit sealed the deal before he enrolls early in January. Yaites got to bond with his future and potential future teammates while doing tours of the campus and checking out the game.
“I finally got to see the whole campus itself and it’s beautiful,” Yaites told On3. “From the newly renovated academic center to the LSU rec center. This time, I didn’t really go to see the school (though). I’ve seen it about nine times, seven of them being only attending games. I wanted to go to build a connection with the players and commits because I’ve met them on social media, but not in-person isn’t the same sometimes.
“I met up with my roommate, Whit Weeks, Javien Toviano, Kyle Parker, Dylan Carpenter, Jaxon Howard. Those guys are some guys, they’re cool.”
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Ryan Yaites ranks as the No. 243 overall prospect in the country, No. 16 safety in the nation and No. 46 prospect in Texas.

LSU gets versatile defender in Ryan Yaites
His head coach, Reed Heim, trusts the veteran defensive back to move around in the secondary.
“What I appreciate about him is just the flexibility,” Heim told On3. “We’re down a corner, he can slide out there. He can do that. He doesn’t miss a beat on our checks. We’re a three-safety defense, he’s got to know all those positions and be able to jump in at corner. The versatility that he brings to the table.”
This season, Ryan Yaites stepped up his tackling and couple that with his attitude, Heim’s enjoyed having him in his star-studded secondary.
“I think his tackling has really improved. His ball skills have really improved.” Heim said. “He’s just fun to coach and be around. What a great kid.”
