SEC announces LSU MBB's 2024 conference schedule
LSU’s 2022-23 season was one to forget, but head coach Matt McMahon and his staff are intent on turning the program around one season at a time. It’s a new-look Tigers team with a slew of transfers coming back to represent their home state and with that comes some raised expectations heading into the new season.
The SEC has released LSU’s new SEC schedule for the upcoming season and with it, a look ahead at what the Tigers are up against.
Here’s the 2023-24 schedule, in alphabetical order.
Home: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Missouri, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt.
Road: Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt.
The Tigers will play Alabama, Arkansas, Texas A&M, Georgia, and Vanderbilt twice and the rest of the conference once. Of those four, Alabama, Arkansas, and Texas A&M are all expected to be preseason top 20 teams in the country, setting LSU up with a tough slate for conference opponents.
The SEC currently has five teams in most preseason Top 25 lists, with Kentucky and Tennessee joining the three aforementioned programs. Some outlets have Auburn, Missouri, or Mississippi State ranked as well, showing the wealth of depth in the conference.
Last year, the SEC underachieved, ranked as the fourth best conference in the country by Kenpom, after ranking second in 2021-22. Still, the high-level coaches and overall investment projects the SEC as one of the best conferences in the country year after year.
