Another player who showed out in camp, Michael Turner earned his offer from LSU the old fashioned way, making play after play in June in front of the Tigers’ coaching staff. The John Curtis rising star put pen to paper and made it official that he will be plalying his college football at LSU, giving Cortez Hankton another high-upside weapon to develop in Baton Rouge.

After working out at multiple LSU camps, including the program’s final camp in June, Turner was brought into head coach Brian Kelly‘s office for a meeting.

From there, he got the news that the chance to be an LSU Tiger was now on the table.

“His message was he loved how I was hungry and came back to camp and earned my offer,” Turner said after committing. “He said I could have just stayed home and been like ‘just forget about it’, but he liked how I came back and showed him I wanted it.”

Turner shot up the rankings and is now a four-star prospect, ranked as the No. 308 player in the country, the No. 49 receiver, and the No. 11 player in Louisiana.

“It feels really great, because I can say all the hard work I put in is paying off and it’s showing,” Turner said. “I give all thanks to the man above. None this would be possible without him.”

Turner visited earlier this month, which gave him a chance to get an early look at what the future will hold. He hung out with quarterback Colin Hurley, wide receiver Kylan Billiot, and others and enjoyed his time at LSU.

“I loved it,” Turner told On3. “Just being around a few of my future teammates and meeting new guys that I’ll be playing with (stood out). Just being around all of the coaches and everything just felt like a family.”

“Talked, got to know each other, we went to events like Top Golf, ate at coach Brian Kelly’s house. Most importantly got to sit and watch Jayden Daniels win the Heisman.”

Turner knows the track record of Louisiana receivers developing at LSU and looks forward to being the next in line after a season where two Louisiana kids are potentially first round draft picks coming out of LSU. With his speed and potential to fill out, Turner is someone to watch for in the coming years in the bayou.
