The Bengal Tiger Podcast: LSU lands 2 commits in 24 hours
With big news coming in on Friday, The Bengal Tiger Recruiting Podcast brings LSU fans the latest on a pair of new football commitments across the past 24 hours.
On Thursday, LSU landed a commitment from Nashville (Tenn.) 4-star safety CJ Jimcoily, who chose LSU over a final four that also included Alabama, Stanford and Tennessee.
The Nashville (Tenn.) prospect is the second safety committed to LSU safeties coach Jake Olsen and the Tigers for the 2025 class, joining fellow 4-star Jhase Thomas, a rising senior at Destrehan High in Louisiana.
“I have a lot of love and faith in coach Kelly,” Jimcoily told On3’s Chad Simmons. “He is building a monster recruiting class and I couldn’t be more excited to be a part of it. Coach Kelly is very passionate about LSU, recruits see it in his eyes and that had a big impact on me.
“Recruits are so excited about playing for LSU and coach Kelly. I have spoken with Bryce Underwood and other commits. They are recruiting me and are excited about the future at LSU. It started with coach Kelly and we all have the faith that he is building something special in Baton Rouge.”
24 hours later, Friday brought more good news for LSU as the Tigers reeled in a commitment from Louisiana wide receiver Phillip Wright III.
Wright’s commitment to LSU comes a week after he backed off his verbal pledge to Michigan, having been committed to the Wolverines for less than a month.
Wright had been trending to LSU on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine (RPM), and a recent offer from the LSU Track and Field staff coupled with the football staff’s push at July’s Bayou Splash recruiting event was enough to flip the in-state target away from Michigan’s class.
“I had a good time connecting with the coaches and the players around the (program). It was a good visit,” Wright told On3. “That (track offer) is big for me because I always wanted to experience that next level of track and racing some of the nation’s best. I would love to see how that would work out for me.”

Wright’s commitment gives LSU a trio of wide receivers for the 2025 class with Louisiana 4-star TaRon Francis and Nevada 4-star Derek Meadows, who are both ranked inside the On300.
With the latest additions, LSU has 21 commitments and the No. 3 class on the On3 Industry Recruiting Rankings for the 2025 cycle.
