The Recap: LSU QB Colin Hurley at Elite 11
Twenty of the 2024 cycle’s top quarterbacks were in Redondo Beach, California this past week for the Elite 11 Finals, which included LSU quarterback commitment Colin Hurley.
The On3 staff was on hand across all three days of the event, and Hurley landed on On3’s Top Performers list following each session.
On3 released a final Overall Top Performers from the event on Friday afternoon, which considered the cumulative showing over the course of the three days at the Elite 11 Finals. Hurley also landed on the Elite 11 staff’s final “Elite 11” list.
As for how Hurley fared each day across the week, here’s the breakdown from On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power.
Day 1 Recap: Hurley gets going at Elite 11
On3 Top Performers after Day 1
On3’s Ranking: Hurley at No. 11
As has been the case in past years, the first day of the three day event featured drill work, with the quarterbacks separated into four groups and working through different stations.
“The setting allows for a direct side-by-side comparison of the majority of the cycle’s top passers. We’re able to get a sense for some of the physical tools, passing ability and level of development of the participants. This order is based solely on the performances from Wednesday night. We place an emphasis on the ability to make high-level throws and consistency on a pass to pass basis along with the overall physical skill set in this setting.
“Colin Hurley looked to have one of the stronger arms at the Elite 11 Finals on Day 1. The LSU pledge has a compact build, with a developed, powerful base. He has a loose, fluid throwing motion and has no trouble spinning and generating pace on his throws. The Jacksonville Trinity Christian product made some high-level throws down the sideline and showed the ability to drive the ball downfield with ease. His accuracy fluctuated at times. The footwork will need to quicken and he’ll need to continue improving his functional movement skills as he looked a little uncomfortable on the move and off-platform. Hurley is the youngest prospect on hand, reclassifying from the 2025 cycle.” – On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
Day 2 Recap: Hurley moves up the board

On3’s Ranking: Hurley at No. 9
Thursday night, the second day of the finals, featured pro day workouts from the finalists and college counselors. Each quarterback worked through the same 20 throw script, throwing to receivers on air and On3 has named top performers from the night.

“We charted each session live, grading each throw as an on or off target,” Power said. “We do not penalize for wide receiver drops if the ball is well-thrown. Conversely, a receiver considerably slowing down to catch the ball is deemed as off target. It is not strictly a tally of completions.
“For the purposes of this Top Performers, we’re mostly sticking with our pro day charting scores as a guide.”
Hurley finished 16-for-20 passing during his throwing session.
“Colin Hurley continued to show off his natural arm strength. Similar to (Dylan Raiola) and a few others, Hurley does not have to strain to drive the ball downfield. We also saw Hurley flash some nice touch and change speeds on his passes. His footwork and overall movement skills could stand to improve and a few others ahead of him went through their pro day drops and throws with more urgency. Still, it was a nice showing for the one-time 2025 prospect.” – On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
The On3 Elite 11 Overall Rankings (after Day 3)
On3 Top Performers after Day 3
On3’s Ranking: Hurley at No. 7
Friday brought the first 7-on-7 competition for quarterbacks, which saw Hurley toss four touchdowns.
“Similar to Dylan Raiola, Colin Hurley showed easy arm strength. Hurley is a powerful, compactly built passer and uses his strong base and loose arm to drive the ball with no strain. The LSU pledge was a Top Performer on each day of the event for On3. He flashed the pure arm talent to make all of the throws to every level of the field. We thought he got progressively better over the course of the week, as well. Hurley built on a good pro day session on Day 2 with one of the better 7-on-7 showings. He completed 13 of 17 passes for 4 touchdowns, taking advantage of a few busted coverages in the secondary. Hurley plays with a deliberate, unbothered pace that may seem a bit slow at times. He’ll need to continue improving his footwork and overall movement skills as he progresses into his senior season, but the arm talent is not in question.” – On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
On3 QB Superlatives
Smoothest Release: Colin Hurley
“Few Elite 11 finalists spun the ball as well as Colin Hurley. The ball almost always comes out of Hurley’s hand cleanly. At around 6-foot-0.5, 220 pounds, Hurley has a compact, powerful build. He uses the developed base and lower body along with his fluid throwing motion to generate easy RPM’s on his throws. Originally a 2025 prospect who reclassified to the 2024 cycle, Hurley will need to continue improving his movement skills and developing as a player on Friday nights, but the pure passing ability was on display in Redondo Beach.” – On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power
