WATCH: 4-star RB James Simon impresses in Week 5
2025 four-star Shreveport (La.) Calvary Baptist running back James Simon helped his team earn a 32-22 win over New Iberia (La.) Westgate on Friday. Simon added a touchdown run on the night and did it all with a broken thumb. Check out the game clips at the top.
“Honestly, I think it’s been helpful because it makes me use my left hand more,” Simon told On3. “I’m dominant right so for me to be able to use my left hand more and really care more about it while holding the football makes me when I get out of this cast, I’ll be strong and confident with both.”
“My line,” he said of what he saw from this team on Friday. “Last week was shaky with the line, but this week, we all knew we had to step up up front. That’s what we did.”
Beating an undefeated Westgate team was a big step in the right direction for the Cavaliers. Simon and his teammates have their eye on a state championship.

“Treat every game like it’s our last,” he said. “Treat it like this game right here — a dog fight. Every game, we can’t let up. We can’t do go down to our opponents’ level. We’ve got to go out there and fight to the end. Till the clock hits zero.”
