LSU head coach Brian Kelly met with the media on Monday to review the loss to Ole Miss and look ahead to the matchup against Missouri on Saturday.

Kelly hit on injury updates for this week, what the Tigers must do to right the ship defensively and more. Overall, the Tigers have a lot of adversity to deal with after an embarrassing defensive showing, wasting a terrific offensive explosion.

“Everybody has to respond to adversity, coaches and players alike. We have adversity in front of us, let’s see how we’re gonna handle it. I think our guys will respond,” Kelly said. “We’re not canceling the season. We’re gonna be there and work our tails off to be better. It was gut wrenching, a difficult loss and our guys felt it. We’re gonna work to get our offense even better and hopefully that’ll be good enough to go up to Columbia and go back on the road in an SEC matchup and get a win.”

This week, LSU heads to Missouri to face the SEC East program, which ranks at No. 21 in the country. The game is set for 11 a.m. CT on ESPN in Columbia, Mo. as LSU looks to even the series, which the team trails 1-2.

For Kelly, it’s a matter of continuing to train younger players and get them more experience, in particular in tackling, which the team struggled mightily with Saturday. LSU fell 55-49 to Ole Miss in Oxford.

“We have to continue to develop them, they have to continue to work at getting better each and every week,” Kelly said. “And, and that’s where we’re at. And so we got to keep rolling them out there and they got to get thick skin, they got to keep working on tackling. And they got to keep working on leveraging the football, they got to keep getting off blocks.”
