WATCH: Colin Hurley kicks off senior year with a bang
2024 LSU quarterback commit Colin Hurley led his Trinity Christian team to a 48-6 win over Parker on Friday. Hurley finished 10-of-12 for 199 yards and three touchdowns in just a half of play. Check out the clips below.
Hurley is the No. 297 overall prospect in the 2024 class, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He ranks as the nation’s No. 18 quarterback and the No. 40 prospect in state of Florida. He’s made no bones about how he feels about Brian Kelly’s program.
“My message is clear,” Hurley said. “Coach Kelly is the winningest active head coach in college football. He’s had tremendous success throughout his entire career and we saw a glimpse of that last season – his first at LSU. When you look at LSU, you have to consider the program’s history, it’s fans, Tiger Stadium and how this place is gritty and kinda grimy.
“There’s just an attitude here and it’s not made for everyone. Playing football at LSU is a privilege. It’s just different.”
Hurley spends summer recruiting for LSU
Hurley spent a good deal of the summer recruiting for the Tigers ahead of enrolling early in January. The four-star prospect committed last fall and reclassified from 2025 to 2024.

“I’d say exactly what I did at the Bayou Bash. LSU Football is back,” he said. “It’s about to make a run in the SEC and country. I truly believe it will compete for, and win, a national championship. I’d tell them to make the move. This staff will coach you hard and prepare you. The brand is so powerful, so who wouldn’t want to play here. There’s something special about Death Valley and there’s no place like it.”
Hurley had a strong outing at the Elite 11 Finals this summer. He finished 7th in On3’s rankings for top performers, also earning the smoothest release honor from On3.
“Few Elite 11 finalists spun the ball as well as Colin Hurley,” On3 director of scouting Charles Power wrote. “The ball almost always comes out of Hurley’s hand cleanly. At around 6-foot-0.5, 220 pounds, Hurley has a compact, powerful build. He uses the developed base and lower body along with his fluid throwing motion to generate easy RPM’s on his throws.
“Originally a 2025 prospect who reclassified to the 2024 cycle, Hurley will need to continue improving his movement skills and developing as a player on Friday nights, but the pure passing ability was on display in Redondo Beach.”
