WATCH: Highlights of LSU commit JD LaFleur
LSU reeled in a legacy commitment on Tuesday when 2025 Sulphur Springs (La.) tight end JD LaFleur committed to the Tigers. The four-star prospect added an offer from the Tigers after his June summer camp performance.
The 6-6, 230-pounder added offers from Miami, Baylor, Tulane, Texas Tech, Texas A&M and others before ultimately committing to LSU.
According to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, LaFleur ranks as the No. 319 overall prospect in the country, No. 17 tight end in the nation and No. 11 prospect in Louisiana.

LaFleur’s father, David LaFleur, was an All-American tight end for the Tigers in 1996 before becoming a first-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in 1997.
27 years after his father played his final game in Baton Rouge, LaFleur added an offer from the Tigers this summer.

“I have always hoped for an offer from LSU,” LaFleur said. “I have been going to games all my life. My dad would take me and my brother and sister on the field for pregame. So yeah, it’s really exciting.
“This offer means a lot to me and my family. I have been going to games there since I was a kid, and obviously my dad played there. The last couple of weeks have been crazy, and I am just trying to process all of it.”
LaFleur joins in-state offensive lineman Brett Bordelon and Peach State defensive back Jaylen Bell in LSU’s 2025 recruiting class.
