WATCH: LSU 4-star WR commit Khai Prean in action
2023 St. James (La.) wideout Khai Prean announced his pledge to the Tigers in August. The 6-0, 188-pound prospect is back on the field showing why he’s one of the top prospects in the recruiting class for Brian Kelly & Co.
Last week, in a blowout win, Prean helped the Wildcats with a few catches with The Bengal Tiger in attendance. Check out the exclusive clips below of Prean in action.
When Khai Prean made his decision before his senior year, he looked back on growing up. The four-star prospect watched plenty of LSU greats from the past and they keyed his decision.
“For as long as I can remember, growing up I’ve been watching football and watching clips on YouTube. and the popular receivers at the time were all from LSU,” Prean told On3. “Odell Beckham Jr., Jarvis Landry and then Ja’Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall Jr. It wasn’t that they went to college; it was that they went to college and stood out in what they did, and that’s what made me want to go to LSU.”
Khai Prean another piece to an impressive WR class
St. James Head Coach LaVanta Davis talked about Prean after the game and what he brings to the team. He credited his ability to be dynamic, along with his attitude and work ethic.

“He’s a dynamic player, he’s a great student athlete, student first, good athlete, he’s a great, humble kid, his parents did a great job with him and his brother,” Davis said. “So we’re excited to have great leadership to the team, he brings work ethic to the team, he brings passion.”
Prean is one of four wide receiver commits in LSU’s 2023 class, and one of two in the state of Louisiana. He is the third-highest ranked wide receiver commit in LSU’s class behind Shelton Sampson and Jalen Brown. Kyle Parker is the fourth wideout in the class to hold a 4-star ranking or better.
According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies, Khai Prean ranks as the No. 270 overall player in the country and the No. 10 ranked athlete in the country.
