5-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore took home a state title during his sophomore season at Duncanville High.

Now, he’s tabbed as the No. 2 wide receiver in the country on the On3 Industry Rankings.

He’s also committed to the LSU Tigers.

Moore, the No. 10 overall prospect in the 2025 class, announced his commitment to LSU on Saturday, surprising much of the recruiting world given he has been considered the Texas Longhorns were considered the favorite to land his verbal pledge.

What’s LSU getting in the 5-star out of the Lone Star State?

The 5-star is one of the best two-sport WR’s in the country

Moore took home a state championship ring after playing the role of one of Duncanville’s biggest weapons during the run to a title in the Lone Star State.

He finished his sophomore season with 44 catches for 767 yards and seven touchdowns, and he followed that up with an impressive display with the track-and-field team.

This spring, Moore logged a 10.63 100-meter dash, a 21.38 200-meter dash and a 24’7″ long jump – all personal bests. He also competed on Duncanville’s 4×1 relay team, which took home second place in the state finals.

For On3 National Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power, Moore is already on track to finish as one of the nation’s top-ranked recruits in the 2025 cycle.

“The gravity he draws from secondaries with his ability to get downfield and separate, it really stands out,” Power said. “He is a natural separator with his long speed and change of direction, which I think is the most important thing. He brings both to the table. He is not a pure track guy who can’t change directions. He understands how to change speeds, gear up and gear down, tempo his routes, and he stacks corners off the line consistently. Obviously he runs well on the track, and he has some wind-aided sub 10.7 times. That’s fantastic. Then he plays that quickly on the field.”

Dakorien Moore brings more juice to the LSU offense

LSU already has a pair of in-state wide receivers committed for the 2024 class in Kylan Billiot and Michael Turner, and the Tigers went into Texas to add four-star Jelani Watkins and Georgia for four-star JoJo Stone.

Now, LSU wide receivers coach Cortez Hankton has added an early piece to the 2025 puzzle, and it doesn’t get much bigger than reeling in a 5-star and No. 2 prospect in the cycle.

“There is a lot he brings to the table,” Power said. “He projects as a downfield target and a guy who will average a lot of yards per catch if utilized correctly. He’s certainly one of the best 2025 wide receivers we saw over the summer. He’s a guy who has impressed in every setting. The high school setting, he has the athletic markers, then he impressed when we saw him over the summer.

“I am looking forward to watching him this year at Duncanville, because he has game-changing ability as a receiver and has a case for being one of the best receivers who has committed to LSU in a couple cycles. It’s a huge get for LSU. He’s a guy who is certainly a difference maker.”
