WATCH: LSU commit Dylan Carpenter shines for St. Amant
2023 St. Amant (La.) EDGE Dylan Carpenter added an offer from LSU before the Tigers beat Alabama in Tiger Stadium. By the end of the weekend, LSU landed his commitment, flipping him from the Ragin’ Cajuns.
“This has all been such a surreal experience,” Carpenter said. “I can’t thank UL enough for everything they have done for me, but I couldn’t miss this opportunity to play for the school that I’ve dreamed to play on since I was little. Therefore, I will be flipping my commitment to LSU!”
On3 ranks Carpenter as a strong three-star prospect with an 88 rating. Check out his highlights below from his team’s win last weekend against Live Oak.
Dylan Carpenter is LSU’s 25th commitment into the 2023 recruiting class. The NCAA does not have a cap on signing limits for the 2023 class. Instead, schools only have to remain under 85 total scholarship players by the time fall camps begin ahead of the 2023 season.
Dylan Carpenter brings versatility, leadership
As an EDGE rusher, Carpenter’s physical ability has been the biggest strength of his game throughput high school. At 6-4, 245, he has a solid frame as an EDGE, allowing him to make plays in both the pass rush and stopping the run.

“Power and quickness. And he knows our scheme inside and out,” his high school coach David Oliver said when talking about Carpenter’s strengths on the field.
When talking about areas of improvement, Oliver mentioned separating from blocks, especially in a stand up role that he played in for part of the season.
“Separating from blocks, sometimes, we don’t have to ask him to do it a lot,” Oliver said. But he had to play inside linebacker a little bit early in the season because of injuries. And some of the things, if he ever has to play as a stand up later on his career, I think he’s trying to refine some of that stuff.”
On3 ranks Dylan Carpenter as a rising three-star prospect with an 88 rating. His rise throughout this season caught the eye of LSU, and is someone who could continue to rise as signing day begins to get closer.
