LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels found wide receiver Malik Nabers to give the Tigers a 7-0 lead over Alabama on Saturday night. Check out the touchdown pass below.
Alabama head coach Nick Saban said last year the Tigers’ offense led by Daniels killed the Crimson Tide in Baton Rouge. LSU came away with the overtime win in Brian Kelly’s first LSU-Alabama matchup.
“They’re the No. 1 offensive team in the country, and it starts with the quarterback, Jayden Daniels,” Saban said of LSU’s talented offense. “I mean, this guy is a phenomenal player. He’s a dual-threat player. He’s a great passer. He makes lots of plays with his feet. He’s fast. Not only can scramble to run but can scramble to throw. They’ve got a really good running back in Logan Diggs. They’ve got a good tight end and Mason Taylor. (Malik) Nabers and Brian Thomas are really, really good receivers, but they have also other good skill guys to go with them. Their offensive line is big and physical, and they’re able to create great balance on offense.”

Saban knew his Crimson Tide was in for a dog fight. Alabama answered the LSU touchdown with a score of its own to tie it at 7.

“I think every game’s a little bit different,” Saban said on College Gameday. “In this game, both teams are going to want to win, a little bit like a heavyweight fight. They’re going to hit us, we’re going to hit them. They’re going to knock us down, we’ll knock them down. It’s who can sustain that. Who can sustain, and be the last man standing. Because you have the mental toughness that you need to be able to sustain, and stay in the moment.
“I think that’s one of the things — you know, we talk about being positive, but more important than being positive, you’ve got to stay in the moment. You’ve got to be able to play the next play, regardless of what happens. So you can get some consistency in performance, going against a good opponent.”
