LSU left College Station with a dominant 81-58 win on Monday night behind strong games from junior Aneesah Morrow and sophomore Flau’Jae Johnson. The defense head coch Kim Mulkey has been working on relentlessly stepped up, holding the Aggies to just 32 percent shooting for the game.

Overall thoughts on the LSU win…
“We held them to 24 percent in the first, then 11 percent in the second, that’s how you get your lead. That would be part of it, the other part is we only allowed them to get one shot every time down. And we held Barker and Coulibaly in check, then in the second half we got a little bit fatigued, they got more aggressive and we were still able to stay composed and score the ball. I felt very comfortable from start to finish in this game.”
On Aneesah’s game…
“That’s just Aneesah and she’s done that the whole year. She’s an undersized post player that can take you off the dribble, shoot the three, and just finish. When Angel picked up her fourth foul, Morrow was pretty good on the boards. She gets up for rebounds. She’s quite a player.”
On Aalyah’s effort…
“Aalyah, her stats are similar to S’Myah Smith and Nalyssa Smith’s freshman year stats. That’s something a freshman coming off the bench needs to here, because it’s new for a lot of freshmen. You come in and you’re an All-American and you don’t realize how well they’re doing. There was a stretch there where she was blocking shots left and right. We’ll dwell on the three missed free throws, but she was a factor when Angel was subbed for.”

On Flau’Jae’s aggression driving the ball…
“It’s another dimension to her game that she didn’t do much last year. Flau’Jae is usually your spot up shooter and would get you rebounds, but she’s added that to her game and it’s outstanding and it makes her better which makes us better.”
On LSU having 20 assists…
“Well we had 16 turnovers too. We’re sharing the ball. We’ll share the ball and I have no doubt these kids are looking to score but they understand there are better shots sometimes.”
On holding Texas A&M to four points in the 2Q…
“You build on that. You get in the film room and say how did we do that? Were they good shots? Were they contested shots? I thought A&M got some wide open looks and just missed. We have to continue to teach on the defensive end because that could be us some nights. There will be days when we can’t score the ball and I thought this week was outstanding for us. We took two days off and we spent two days hardly touching the ball, it was all about defense. We shot but that was it. We said let’s get better at defense and in the first half they were all guarding the ball and all helping each other. Got a little sloppy in the second half.”
