On Monday evening, college football fans were able to play the new EA College Football 25 video game for the first time. It has been 10 years since the release of the last installment of the series, leaving fans chomping at the bit to get on and use their favorite teams in the new game.

One of the central talking points throughout the build up was about players opting in and who all would be in the game. EA was offering $600 and a copy of the game for free to players who opted in. As the release date got closer, it was an overwhelming success as more than 14,000 college football players had opted into the game, allowing EA to use their names and likeness.

There are outliers, though, and some of the players who had missed the deadline or forgotten, quickly tweeted that they were trying to get back in. This happened with Kyren Lacy who is now in the game.

Now, with the game released, we have access to the full depth chart and rosters and can see who is in and who is not. By my count, LSU had all but seven scholarship players opt into the game. Here are the seven names that were not on LSU’s roster in EA College Football 25.

DB Sage Ryan

Ryan is likely the highest rated player to not be in the game for LSU. A senior defensive back from Lafayette, Ryan is a going to start at safety for the Tigers in 2024, but in the game, his absence is filled by either Major Burns or players like Javien Toviano, Jordan Allen, and others.

WR Aaron Anderson

Another surprise, Anderson is the only LSU receiver to not be in the game, but he is replaced by an auto generated name “K. Engram” who is 74 overall with 92 speed. Still, Shelton Sampson, Kylan Billiot, and Jalani Watkins are more than enough to compliment the starting receivers on the depth chart.

DT Dominick McKinley

Perhaps the most disappointing one for LSU fans, McKinley is a five-star freshman who assuredly would have had a nice rating and let fans who want to use LSU in Dynasty Monday build up their rosters with an awesome player in the middle of their defense. We know how badly LSU needs defensive tackles.

DT Gio Paez

Another potential starting defensive tackle who is not in the game, Paez transferred in over the spring from Wisconsin and is entering his sixth year. Maybe he doesn’t care for video games, but it’s definitely another shot to the Tigers’ defensive line talent.

RB John Emery

To be fair to Emery, I’m not sure he knew what was next for him in 2024, coming off of the serious leg injury and almost going to UCLA before committing to LSU – he had a lot on his plate. Still, in a shallow running back room, Emery would have been a nice piece to see in his last year.

CB Bernard Causey

A freshman corner who would have been rated in the 60s, Causey is someone who will try to carve out his role at LSU in the coming years, but is not in the game.

DB Austin Ausberry

Ausberry is another player not expected to be in the two-deep come opening week. We’ll see if Ausberry can get on the field for LSU in 2024 as a transfer from Auburn.
