Phoenix (Ariz.) Sunnyslope High School Class of 2024 QB Luke Moga took an all-day visit to the University of Miami with his father on Thursday.

While Mario Cristobal wasn’t on campus, the coach spoke with Moga and his father over FaceTime.

And Cristobal shared some news with them that Miami fans are probably a little bit eager to hear.

“Coach Cristobal is trying to get his new offensive coordinator, is still searching for his offensive coordinator and said that should come in the next week or so,” Moga said. “So once that happens I’ll build that relationship and see where it goes.”

Moga spent his time on campus today with RB coach Kevin Smith and Miami general manager of football operations Alonzo Highsmith as well as some back room analysts/recruiters.

“It was super cool,” Moga said. “It’s a historical place, I loved it. I loved everything around it.”

The visit came after Moga landed a Miami offer, his 16th. All of those offers have some since the midway point of last season, and the QB just took up organized football his freshman year.

“I’m a late bloomer,” he says.

Moga says he’s in no hurry to narrow down his list or make a decision – “I’ll do it whenever I feel the time is right – I don’t know if that’s tomorrow or a million weeks from now,” he says.

Moga said that during his FaceTime conversation with Cristobal that the coach also stressed “that he wants me to keep coming out, is super glad I came, trusts the coaches I was with, that I can see they are great people. He said he thinks of me highly as a player and person.”

CaneSport’s take

Well, it’s only a matter of time before Miami has its new coordinator, which isn’t news to anyone that’s been paying attention. And Moga says it’s unclear what kind of offense might be run other than that Cristobal told him that “he likes a guy who can move a little bit” at QB. So stay tuned on the OC and what happens moving forward with Moya, who is already at the airport and heading back home.
