BREAKING: Four-star CB Camdin Portis commits to the Miami Hurricanes ... "Nothing else felt like home"
The Miami Hurricanes added a third prospect to their 2026 recruiting class, and it’s a name very well known to UM fans as Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park four-star junior cornerback Camdin Portis announced his commitment Sunday night.
After announcing his top five on October 26, Portis, the son of former Miami Hurricanes and NFL running back Clinton Portis, chose Miami over Ohio State, Tennessee, Penn State, and Auburn.
“It just felt right every time I came,” Camdin told CaneSport. “Nothing else felt like home to me.”
This past weekend Portis was in Miami for the Hurricanes matchup against Florida State, which played a role in his eventual commitment to the Canes. Portis also spent on campus today, which is when he informed Miami head coach Mario Cristobal that he wanted to commit to the Hurricanes.
“Coaches for sure,” Camdin said when asked what put the Canes over the top in his recruitment. “As well as the players that are coming through the program soon just made it feel right. Coach (Michael) Sewell, coach (Mario) Cristobal, really every body made it feel like a great decision to become a Cane.”
During the early 2000s, Camdin’s father Clinton starred for the Hurricanes and ranks 10th in career all-purpose yardage with 2,795 yards (2,523 rushing, 272 receiving, 0 return yards) … he scored 23 total touchdowns in his Miami career.

Now Camdin will look to create his own legacy at Miami.
The 6-foot, 165-pound Portis is the nation’s No. 292 overall prospect in the 2026 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 23 cornerback and No. 16 recruit from North Carolina in the class.
Portis joins Miami (Fla.) Carol City four-star linebacker Jordan Campbell and Orlando (Fla.) Jones High School four-star quarterback Dereon Coleman in the Hurricanes’ 2026 class.
CaneSport’s take
While Portis had often been referred to as ‘the son of Miami running back Clinton Portis’, the junior defensive back had made a name for himself as one of the most versatile defenders in the 2026 class. He’s a great addition to the class.
