BREAKING: Four-star WR Daylyn Upshaw commits to the Miami Hurricanes
The Miami Hurricanes have landed a commitment from Phenix City (Ala.) Central four-star wide receiver Daylyn Upshaw after beating out the likes of Auburn, Florida, and UCF for the 2025 prospect.
Throughout Upshaw’s recruiting process, Miami wide receivers coach Kevin Beard has led the Canes’ push for the 5-foot-11, 175-pound wideout. While Beard made it known to Upshaw that he was wanted in Coral Gables, he allowed him to take his time throughout his process.
“Coach Kevin Beard told me to take all my visits; don’t rush anything,” Upshaw said. “He’s not pressuring me to commit or anything, but he said I’m wanted there. He’s a great coach who wants you to look at all your options and see different things so I can know if I’m home or not.”
During that official visit to Miami, Upshaw got to see all that Miami had to offer from a football standpoint and beyond.
“This weekend, they went in-depth on everything,” Upshaw previously told CaneSport. “It felt good seeing Miami; I’d never gotten to see the city for real. It was my second time being down here, I saw the beaches, houses, and things like that.”

According to the On3 Industry Ranking, Upshaw is the No. 378 overall prospect in the 2025 class and the No. 61 wide receiver this cycle. As a junior, Upshaw hauled in 59 receptions for 1,185 yards and 15 touchdowns en route to an Alabama 7A state championship.
Upshaw is the lone wide receiver commit in the Hurricanes 2025 class after former Canes pledge Waden Charles backed off his commitment earlier this summer before committing to UCF.
The Alabama native is the Hurricanes’ fourth commit since the start of July and the 18th pledge in the class that is sitting just outside of the On3 2025 Industry Ranking Football Team Recruiting Rankings at the No. 12 spot.
CaneSport’s take
Upshaw is an extremely productive receiver who the Hurricanes staff has had their eyes on since he visited during the spring. With Upshaw now on the board, the Canes will look to add the 2025 wide receiver class, with the likes of Jaime Ffrench and Vernell Brown still on the board, as well as potential flip targets Joshua Moore (Florida) and Dallas Wilson (Oregon).
