Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School 3-star Class of 2026 OL JJ Sparks has an official visit locked in for the Miami Hurricanes June 13. But he didn’t need to wait until then to make a decision.

Sparks spent this past weekend at Miami, taking a Thursday-Saturday trip. He saw all he needed.

This evening Sparks announced his Miami commitment.

Sparks was also pursued heavily by Florida State, where he set an official visit for June 20, and listed other offers from the likes of Cincinnati, Duke, Georgia Tech, Louisville, North Carolina and Pittsburgh. UNC was a program that was pushing hard to get a visit.

Sparks confirmed for CaneSport that evening that he has canceled his FSU OV and is shutting things down.

He’s all Cane, and is projected as a center at the next level.

Sparks had always called Miami one of his top schools, and has credited his relationship with Mario Cristobal and Alex Mirabal for how he viewed UM.

“They really like my physicality and my technique as an interior guard,” Sparks says.

Sparks is rated the nation’s No. 67 interior offensive line prospect, and at 6-4 and 295 pounds Miami coaches see someone who can develop into a high level lineman.

“They’re definitely building something special and are coming off a good year,” Sparks said of the Canes. “When you watch their games, you see the offensive line is dominant. They have an explosive run game, and their offense is super good.”

CaneSport’s Take

Cristobal and Mirabal know what they are doing with offensive line recruiting, so despite Sparks’ three-star ranking you know they see something special in him. And Miami’s 2026 line class is now off and running as this is the third addition – Sparks joins OT Ben Congdon and OT Joel Ervin in the class. This is the eighth commitment of 2026, so the class is off and rolling.
