Jonesboro (Ga.) four-star cornerback Jontavius Wyman had been committed to Georgia since July 27. But Saturday night, the No. 205 overall prospect in the On300 flipped his commitment to Miami.

Wyman pulled the trigger on his Miami commitment Saturday evening to become the ninth member of the Hurricanes’ 2026 class and third cornerback commit as the Canes remain hot on the recruiting trail. His commitment gives the Hurricanes three four-star cornerback commits (joining Jaelen Waters and Camdin Portis) and two commits this week after three-star interior offensive lineman JJ Sparks announced his decision Wednesday.

Miami additionally beat out Florida, Florida State, Nebraska and Arizona State for the No. 25 player in the state of Georgia according to the On300 and began trending for Wyman earlier this spring. CaneSport insider Stephen Wagner entered an RPM for Wyman to flip from Georgia to Miami March 28 citing the Hurricanes’ continued progress with the blue-chip cornerback over the past several weeks.

Wyman’s commitment is the latest event in a Miami recruiting surge over the past month that began with a commitment from four-star offensive tackle Ben Congdon and included commitments from Waters, Sparks, three-star offensive lineman Joel Ervin and four-star running back Javian Mallory. Wyman’s commitment is the Hurricanes’ second pledge since the start of the new month, although Miami’s staff still covets elite cornerbacks and safeties like Chauncey Kennon, Cortez Redding, Brody Jennings, Zechariah Fort, Justice Fitzpatrick and Blake Stewart, among others.

His commitment also comes as the Hurricanes look to continue their rise through the early On3 Team Recruiting Rankings. Miami currently sits at 13 but can easily jump ahead of Texas at No. 12 with the commitment.

CaneSport’s Take

Wyman is another fast, twitchy playmaker the Hurricanes needed in this year’s class that should be celebrated as a major recruiting win over Georgia. There’s obviously plenty of time left until signing day, but this is a massive early win for Miami.
