Brock Schott visited Miami for the Hurricanes' elite junior day May 13.

Leo (Ind.) four-star 2025 tight end Brock Schott, the No. 202 overall prospect and No. 9 tight end in the On3 Industry Ranking has committed to Miami over Ohio State, Florida State, Florida, Iowa, Wisconsin and others, the blue-chip prospect announced Saturday evening.

Schott, who emerged earlier this year as one of the Hurricanes top tight end targets, told On3’s Chad Simmons Friday Miami and Ohio State had begun to separate themselves for the 6-foot-3.5, 215-pound recruit after visiting both programs earlier this spring. Schott visited Miami three weeks ago and Ohio State three weeks ago, indicating he could commit this spring before ultimately pulling the trigger Saturday night.

Schott told CaneSport after his March 21 visit his trip to Coral Gables went “really, really well” and liked where the Hurricanes sat following his first practice visit. He formally named Miami one of his top two schools along with Ohio State following the visit after receiving full-court presses from both schools and remained in constant contact with tight ends coach Cody Woodiel since picking up a Miami offer last May. He also stayed in regular contact with head coach Mario Cristobal and received in-school visits from Woodiel, Cristobal and receivers coach Kevin Beard during the January contact period.

“Miami’s been a school that’s been on me since very early in my recruitment,” Schott told On3’s Chad Simmons. “They were on me since day one. Mario Cristobal, he’s really shown how much they want me. They showed me that I’m their No. 1 guy at tight end and they were willing to do as much as they could recruiting-wise to get me.”

Schott is the sixth commit in Miami’s 2025 class and fifth blue-chip prospect to commit to the Hurricanes joining four-star quarterback Luke Nickel, four-star running back Girard Pringle, four-star receiver Waden Charles and four-star linebacker Elijah Melendez. Three-star offensive tackle Lamar Williams has also remained committed to the Hurricanes for the last two months.

He currently plans to take an official visit Miami May 31, which will mark his third total trip to Coral Gables. He visited Miami for the first time last May with a group of 2024 and 2025 recruits from the midwest.

“They were making sure I got all the information, making sure I met everybody and making sure I saw how well they can use me in the offense,” Schott told Simmons. “They’ve done a very great job of showing how much I mean to them and how much they can use me. I think coach Cristobal is doing a great job recruiting over there and they’re going to be building something great. I think Miami’s going to be pretty good in the next few years.”

Miami began prioritizing Schott that summer and started communicating daily with the four-star prospect as soon as coaches became permitted to directly call and text 2025 prospects last August. Miami continued to steadily climb for Schott as the coaches maintained contact with him last fall and this spring, although he told CaneSport several times the Hurricanes weren’t pushing to land his commitment.

Schott plans to sign in December.

CaneSport’s Take

Schott’s commitment is one of Woodiel’s first signature commitments since being promoted to tight ends coach last year and captured the momentum generated by Schott’s visit last week. Schott now gives Miami five consecutive recruiting classes with a blue-chip tight end.
