IMG Academy top-300 interior offensive lineman Breck Kolojay has been as high on Miami’s board as anyone in the 2026 class and remained public about his interest in the Hurricanes. Saturday he visited Coral Gables for the second time in three weeks — this time with his parents, who made the trip from Colorado.

The No. 272 overall prospect and No. 20 interior lineman in the cycle visited Miami for the seventh time after last visiting with his 5-on-5 team in mid-March, and this weekend was his first time watching the Hurricanes practice since his freshman year. Watching Miami head coach Mario Cristobal’s personal involvement in the team’s offensive line during practice and seeing him and offensive line coach Alex Mirabal work together with the line encouraged him and helped him feel like he fits the Hurricanes’ system.

“I feel like I fit exactly in their system,” Kolojay told CaneSport. “What coach Mirabal and what coach Cristobal do, I feel like I already know a lot of the stuff just from visiting so many times. I already have a feel for it. I’m close with all of the players, so just hearing their insight and their intel on everything was huge. I feel like if I did end up committing to the school the transition would be really easy.”

Kolojay chatted with freshman center SJ Alofaituli, senior offensive guard Anez Cooper, former IMG star and likely 2026 first-round draft pick Francis Mauigoa. Kolojay will return to Coral Gables for an official visit June 6 and said the Hurricanes are “one of my top schools,” although he isn’t sure when he could pull the trigger.

But he isn’t afraid of tiptoeing around the elephant in the room — NIL — and the clear impact it has on many recruitments in today’s world of college football. It’ll play a factor in his recruitment too.

“That’s just the truth,” Kolojay said. “You know, my top schools, they have a lot of similarities when it comes to culture. Development, I know it’s a broad statement, but I want to have the choice where money doesn’t have to be a factor. That’s something I’m looking for in that space, but obviously just all of the stuff I’ve been saying (will also factor in), but NIL is going to play a huge factor.”

CaneSport’s Take

Kolojay is an exceptionally bright and mature recruit who isn’t afraid to say the quiet part out loud — that NIL plays some factor in nearly every recruitment in today’s age of college football — but we know each of his top contenders have the resources to match each other. I still think the Hurricanes have a real shot to land the four-star prospect.
