Carson Beck Snubbed: One Site Ranks Miami Hurricanes Star QB Just 24th in Heisman Race

Some fans, perhaps, view football as a religion of sorts. And in that same vein you have your believers … and nonbelievers. Certainly when it comes to Miami QB Carson Beck there are plenty of both.
Beck, of course, starred two years ago at Georgia with 3,941 yards, 24 TDs (adding four more rushing scores) and six INTs. He led his team to a 13-1 record and entered last year as a Heisman Trophy frontrunner tied with Quinn Ewers for the best preseason odds at +800.
But then he endured an up-and-down year, leading the SEC in a category you don’t want with 12 INTs while throwing for 3,485 yards with 28 TDs (and one rushing TD) before going down in the playoffs with a torn UCL. Because of that injury, Miami fans didn’t get to see him in action this spring.
Regardless, Beck has gotten his share of accolades in the early part of this year.
He was No. 3 on PFF’s list of the top 10 QBs for 2025, trailing only Same Leavitt with Cade Klubnik atop the list. And then you have this year’s Heisman odds, where Beck checks in tied with Oregon’s Dante Moore at No. 8 in the nation, with +2000 odds via DraftKings. That’s behind Texas’ Arch Manning (+700), LSU’s Garrett Nussmeier (+900), Penn State’s Drew Allar (+1000), Klubnik (+1400), Ohio State’s Julian Sayin (+1500), Ohio State’s Jeremiah Smith (+1600) and Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava (+1800). FanDuel has Beck tied with UF’s DJ Lagway at No. 10 on its Heisman odds list at +2000, listing Nussmeier and Manning as the favorites at +800 and with Klubnik at +1000. And BetMGM has Beck 11th on its odds list at +2000.
All pretty similar, right around the top 10, right?
Well, now let’s turn to a major nonbeliever.
That’s College Sports Network, which recently ranked its 136 Heisman Trophy contenders in order.
Guess where you’ll find Beck?
Well, you have to scroll down quite a bit.
Allar leads the list with Klubnik No. 2 … and Beck is all the way down at No. 24. He trails the starting QBs from Penn State, Clemson, South Carolina, LSU, Texas, Navy, Florida, Arizona State, Washington, Baylor, Oklahoma Iowa State, Utah, Vanderbilt, Ohio, SMU and Kansas on the list.

College Sports Network writes “Carson Beck was a notable absentee from the CSN Top 100 Returning Players for 2025 list, but there’s no denying that the former Georgia Bulldogs quarterback will be the Miami Hurricanes’ best bet to win the 2025 Heisman Trophy. His `down’ year that saw him return rather than declare for the NFL Draft was better than most QBs experience in a career, throwing for 28 touchdowns and 3,485 yards.
“He also had a higher touchdown percentage (6.3%) and threw more air yards per pass attempt (8.4) than the previous season, where he led the SEC in passing yards while completing the most passes in the conference. Interceptions and an inability to handle pressure (both physical and mental) impacted his play in 2024. If Miami can provide him with a stellar offensive line, a bounce-back year could be on the cards, as could a first trip to New York for the sixth-year quarterback.”
If Beck perhaps didn’t have a major chip on his shoulder before this, he can go ahead and put one on there now.
