With the University of Miami Hurricanes set to host a handful of elite prospects this weekend, one name to monitor of the group is Chillicothe (Ohio) four-star tight end and LSU commit Tayvion Galloway.

The Ohio native has been committed to the Tigers since July 2022 but still has a high interest in Miami due to a shared love for the program with his father.

“I’ve always been interested in Miami, and that’s always been my dream school,” Galloway told CaneSport. “Growing up, I used to watch them all the time with my dad because that was his favorite team. Ever since they offered me, they’ve been pressing me to come to take a visit.”

Galloway committed to LSU and Brian Kelly because of the great relationship he formed with the Tigers’ head coach while he was at Notre Dame. Galloway said since he announced his verbal pledge, Miami has gone after him even harder.

“I feel like since I committed to LSU, Miami has been showing even more love,” Galloway said.

The 6-foot-3, 225-pounder has been in contact primarily with Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and tight end coach Stephen Field.

“Whenever they’re talking to me, they’ve always tried to get me to come down there,” Galloway said. “They tell me how I would love it down there and that it’s paradise. I told them I’m going to come find out.”

This upcoming visit will be Galloway’s first time in Miami, and he has a few things in mind that he’ll be looking forward to.

“I’m just excited to meet the coaches in person and get to know them,” Galloway said. “Also, just to sit down and watch film with the coaches and see how they’re trying to use me.”

Visiting Miami has been something Galloway has thought of doing for a while, and after talking it over with his family, he knew now was the right time to do so.

“I’ve been talking to my family about it, and there were saying I should just go visit because I only get one chance with my recruiting process,” Galloway said.

In addition, Tayvion’s father, Jason Galloway, has told him about Miami’s history of producing outstanding tight ends and encouraged him to look into the Hurricanes and what they have to offer.

“I know the tradition with tight ends at Miami and even my dad has been saying I’ve got to look at Miami,” Galloway said. “He’s been telling me that all the time, and I definitely have seen what they do with tight ends.”

Although Galloway is firmly committed to the Tigers, this weekend at Miami could aid the Hurricanes’ efforts as they try to flip the LSU commit.

“I want to see how they plan to use me,” Galloway added. “I just want to see how the genuine connection is with the coaching staff. I want to talk to some players and see how it feels there. If all that goes well, who knows.”

CaneSport’s take

This weekend for Miami is a big one for the program, with numerous amounts of 2024 and 2025 blue-chip prospects making their way to South Florida. While Galloway may be committed to LSU, the Hurricanes coaching staff has not let up, and it has paid off with him taking this visit. If things go well this weekend, it should be interesting to see where things stand with Galloway after he wraps up a visit to his dream school.
