WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, Happy New Year Canes fans!

There was the Lance Guidry getting fired news, of course, from yesterday as well as Gary Ferman’s look at why Clint Hurtt is the perfect replacement candidate.

And we’ll start you off this new year with our five major predictions for the Miami Hurricanes in 2025 … and a look at how our predictions exactly a year ago panned out. Don’t miss that.

We also follow up on our closer look at what is returning and lost on offense from last year with what’s coming back on defense … and gone there. This is a group that woefully underperformed in 2024, so are there signs 2025 can be a lot better? Check out that analysis.

In portal news we have an update on UTSA LB Martavius French, who is set for a Miami visit this week, as well as a new offer in the portal … we catch up with Georgia Tech OL Kai Greer.

In recruiting?

We have an update with Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star 2026 receiver Brandon Bennett, who has Miami very much on his radar.

Plus we catch up with Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy EDGE four-star Jake Kreul, who was in the stands as the Canes took on Iowa State. Although the Hurricanes fell to the Cyclones, Kreul is still very high on the program.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Maybe it’s the Miami program that is the issue … Posted by PH1LLY

We keep going from coach to coach to coach
Each coach keeps doing the same thing
Making bad initial hires and not landing the top players from FLA
Mario was suppose to fix that
Staff assembly , development and recruiting were his strong suits

staff assembly has been bad
Recruiting has been good
But not great because we are still missing out on the very top players
And let’s not even talk about development

it must be the Miami program itself

“I want to first thank Coach Guidry for his contributions to the University of Miami. In a continuous effort to always improve all aspects of our program, I have decided to make a change on defense. We will move forward and make decisions that provide our players, staff and program the best opportunity to win and develop at the highest level.”
