WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Well, we continue to update our portal tracker daily as the Miami Hurricanes continue to look to upgrade their roster not just through recruiting but also by adding transfers.
One guy who has left Miami for the portal? QB Jake Garcia. So this morning we take a closer look at Miami’s quarterback depth and if it’s good enough or if the team should hit the portal or add a signee in February at the position.
There are plenty of recruiting items this morning as well.
It starts with the latest update on downgraded 4-star CB Cormani McClain and his situation. While he technically remains a Miami commit, will it stay that way on signing day? We update that.
Plus tight ends coach Stephen Field was up in Georgia seeing a couple of top Miami targets that are already UGA commits … we get an inside look at what’s going on there. We also catch up with a couple 2024 players that added new Miami offers and share where things stand now: 4-star QB/baseball star Austin Simmons and Orlando Evans (Fla.) safety Brandon Jacob.

There’s also the continuation of our CaneSport 30 for 30 series ranking the top 30 Miami Hurricanes with 30 or more reps of experience. We have your update on No. 15, DE Jahfari Harvey.
Plus don’t miss our update on Miami Hurricanes General Manager Alonzo Highsmith sharing his thoughts on what it will take for the Canes to return to the national title game level.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

Various thoughts on coaches … Posted by phlipper5
1. Physical talent and drive is what separates players, but coaches are defined more by IQ and communication. Anybody can learn to teach any player, any position. The coach only has to learn all there is to play such positions and communicate that to the player. Former players have a head start in understanding but if they lack communication, that understanding is wasted.
2. It is completely wrong to think that an OC has to coach QB. The OC sets the game plan then communicates that plan to the position coaches. It is then the job of the position coaches to communicate the plan to the players.
3. It is vitally important that all coaches are on the same page with their coordinators and the HC.
4. You could argue that it is simpler and more efficient to have your OC coach the QB’s and you wouldn’t be wrong.
5. Speed of thought and understanding the whole game plan will always trump physical skill, provided that the physical skill is largely comparative. Coaches communicate and players play.
