WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

CaneSport Live was broadcast last night with CaneSport Publisher Gary Ferman, Matt Shodell, Bruce Warner and you the fans as guests. You can still tune in and listen to that.

Also this morning we have a very interesting transfer portal story. Have Mario Cristobal’s transfers panned out more often than not over the last three years? We look at each transfer brought in by Cristobal, give a brief synopsis of what they did/have done and share whether based on what we’ve seen they are a “hit” or a “miss.” Then we make a judgment on how it’s gone. So check that out.

We have portal news for you, with the Branch brothers visiting and feedback on that. And we look at a portal OL that is visiting today, Kai Greer.

And in recruiting we catch up with Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star 2026 defensive tackle Kameron Cody. He already has a solid offer list of schools like Miami, USC, Arkansas and others, but a handful of schools made particularly strong impressions this fall.

Plus we have your coach’s take closer look at Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star Miami signee Malachi Toney. So don’t miss that, either.

Also check out our closer look at the signees set to enroll early this month.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

Coach’s Take: 4-star Miami Hurricanes signee Malachi Toney ‘not a receiver, not a quarterback; he’s a ball player’

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

MIAMI MUST GET A DORSETT, BENJAMIN TYPE WR … Posted by T-Dogg

We’ve missed having a guy run by the entire defense. Haven’t had it since those guys. Maybe Stacy was a close third place.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

American Heritage Malachi Toney
American Heritage Patriots receiver Malachi Toney (1) runs the ball during the first quarter of a game against the Naples Golden Eagles at Staver Field in Naples on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024.

“I think the best classification for him is not a receiver, not a quarterback; he’s a ball player. And he could probably do a bunch of other stuff too. We were messing around one day and I said, ‘Man, you can’t snap a football’ and he could snap a football. He’s just a ball player. Heck, you can go back to the St. Thomas Aquinas game and he had like six or seven tackles and had a game-sealing interception. He could probably be an All-American at a defensive position too.”
