WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

There was your defensive coordinator update with Gary Ferman’s take on the search.

We take a deeper dive inside the play of some of the portal additions for Miami, with an eye on what they can do to help the Canes. So don’t miss those film analysis items on CJ Daniels, James Brockermeyer, Alex Bauman, Ethan O’Connor and Charles Brantley. Brockermeyer, O’Connor and Bauman were new commits, of course, and we had that news for you as well.

There also was our update on a target to monitor in the portal, Texas A&M WR Noah Thomas. And there was the news from over the weekend that center James Brockermeyer chose UM off his visit.

Plus we had the news that Mario Cristobal has lured Taylor Edwards, who last week was hired by Bill Belichick at North Carolina, to join Miami’s player personnel department.

In recruiting?

Our latest Inside The Lines feature is with Charlotte (N.C.) Myers Park four-star 2026 cornerback/Miami commit Camdin Portis, so don’t miss that.

We also have your coach’s take on New Iberia (La.) Westgate four-star 2025 cornerback and Miami signee Jaboree Antoine.

Another update is with Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas wide receiver Ah’Mari Stevens. He has begun to build a tight bond with the Miami Hurricanes despite being a 2027 prospect.

Plus CaneSport’s Stephen Wagner looks at the 5 2026 prospects he thinks the Hurricanes grew most with this year, and he talks with On3’s Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power about a number of UM signees. There’s also his take on the positions of need for Miami in the 2026 class.

The basketball team also lost a one-point heartbreaker at Virginia Tech on a three-point play with two seconds remaining, and we had that for you as well.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

HEAR ME OUT … Posted by T-Dogg

Mario should go and poach J. Smith from OSU.

IMO he is next year’s Cam Ward.
He’s a clear front runner to win the Heisman.
He will make any team instantly better.
He’s unstoppable.

Granted, he’s not a QB but he plays an impact position in today’s football—WR.

I would offer him 8 mill and bring him home for 2 years. You would have an exciting product and the home town would flood the gates for a local star.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Expect a competitor. I’m going to compete, and if things go well, you’ll see me on the field making plays for y’all, and we’re going to bring things back.”
