WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

There was a closer look at what is going on with Miami CB target Xavier Lucas, as we talk with his attorney as the star defender continues to try to get in the portal. There also is an update on a new name to track in the portal – former Miami recruit Damon Wilson, a DE from Georgia.

Then there is our closer look under the hood of the personnel on defense … and what is there for a new coordinator. It might be a unit that surprises a lot of people.

We also have our newest Inside The Lines feature, this one with Miami Hurricanes signee SJ Alofaituli.

There also are updates with Miami target Tony Williams, who locked in a Junior Day visit after a Tuesday conversation with Mario Cristobal, and Ny Carr’s cousin, 2026 RB target Ty’Jaevian “Jae” Lamar. So don’t miss those updates.

Also of note: Jacksonville (Fla.) Mandarin On300 2026 cornerback Brody Jennings’ commitment to Michigan has not slowed down the Miami Hurricanes from recruiting the four-star prospect. On Tuesday, Mario Cristobal stopped by to see Jennings, who has a UM tie. Where do things stand there?

And staying with the recruiting theme we caught up with Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) Monarch four-star 2026 receiver Jabari Brady at Navy All-American Bowl practice in San Antonio Tuesday. Find out where things stand there. Also check out what another target, Buford (Ga.) four-star 2026 defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright, is telling us from San Antonio.

There also was a Tuesday offer that went out to 2027 Dillard (Fla.) wide receiver Anthony Jennings, who has a special affinity for UM.

There’s also an update with Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill four-star defensive lineman Deuce Geralds. He’s still high on Miami despite some coordinator uncertainty.

Plus we catch up with Lawrenceville (Ga.) Grayson five-star linebacker Tyler Atkinson. He has no shortage of programs chasing after his services with nearly 50 offers. Among the group of schools is the Miami Hurricanes, which hosted the No. 1 linebacker in the 2026 class for a visit last month.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Roster Numbers Final 4 teams … Posted by Sheldog

Forty-four of the top 100 are in their fourth, fifth or sixth year of college football. The majority of the remaining 56 are in their third year.

In short, unless you’re an all-conference level player elsewhere or an absolute freak show of an athlete, don’t expect to walk into a starting role at Ohio State, Texas, Notre Dame or Penn State.

The best of the best visit the portal, but they do not live there: I’m going to repeat this stat because it’s a lesson worth internalizing for players and coaches alike: 85 of the 100 players who will see the most snaps in the 2024 CFP Final Four signed with their respective programs out of high school.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

SJ Alofaituli Miami Hurricanes

“Knowing you’re surrounded by great people and hard workers is the kind of people you want around you. You just want a champion mentality and a lot of people that want to make you better. Those times you don’t want to push yourself or those times you don’t want to do some stuff, they’re going to be there. You need teammates around you that are going to keep you in check and have a good head on their shoulders.”
