WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We take a closer look at one of the team’s key portal pickups, DT David Blay, and go inside his film to show what he can bring to Miami.

In recruiting?

On Tuesday afternoon, Miami Hurricanes head coach Mario Cristobal made his way to Daytona Beach to check in on Spruce Creek High School four-star defensive lineman Freddie Wilson. Find out about that.

Also getting a Cristobal visit at school was Jacksonville (Fla.) The Bolles School four-star 2026 prospect Simeon Caldwell. He was nothing short of “shocked.”

Cristobal stayed busy by visiting Tampa Bay (Fla.) Tech On300 2026 offensive tackle Canon Pickett as well, so find out where things stand there.

Another coach visit? RB coach Matt Merritt made a visit to see Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek four-star 2026 running back Amari Latimer (the great nephew of University of Miami Hall-of-Famer Don Latimer), and we have you covered with that.

And Carrollton (Ga.) Central four-star running back Jonaz Walton got a visit at school from RB coach Matt Meritt and discussed a possible trip to campus this spring. Check out what he’s saying.

Plus we have an update from Navy All-American Bowl practice with Augusta (Ga.) Douglas County four-star 2026 receiver Devin Carter, a top-50 receiver in the class who has Miami pushing.

The basketball team continued its struggles as well, falling last night to FSU, 80-65. We have your recap and reaction.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

WR take … Posted by jc2canes4life

Do you think Toney plays right away? I kinda feel like he is going to be helpful year 1.
I also thought Ray Ray looked a little better in the bowl. He could have had a game winning play had the ball been delivered. Some guys just need an opportunity. Get him off kick returns though!

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It’s just that tenacity in him to just finish the play. He doesn’t take any plays off, and he gives 100%. Not only that, but in practice, he’s always making people better, and he’s not slacking off. He just has that captain mentality as well. That’s something that I take from him, look up to him about, and that I hope to instill in my game.”
