WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We have your Countdown To Kickoff Show – CaneSport Publisher Gary Ferman and Ira Schoffel of Warchant.com break down the Miami-Florida State game. We also have your thoughts on Florida State from coach Mario Cristobal. Plus we have an update with DT Simeon Barrow. There’s also our “from the other sideline” views with FSU coach Mike Norvell as well as players talking about what they see in the UM challenge.

In recruiting we have updates with numerous Miami targets who will be visiting for the FSU game.

West Boca Raton (Fla.) Boca Raton four-star 2026 running back Javian Mallory has already landed more than three dozen offers from programs like Michigan, Alabama, Louisville, Penn State and Notre Dame, but Miami is at the top for the No. 169 overall prospect and No. 19 running back in the On3 Industry Ranking. And he’ll be at the game and weighs in with his take.

Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star EDGE and Miami commit Herbert Scroggins III will be back in South Florida to watch the Canes take on Florida State and shares his thoughts.

Clayton (N.C.) High four-star defensive lineman Keshawn Stancil is also set to visit. Where do things stand there?

Also on hand will be 4-star 2025 commit Girard Pringle, and we catch up with him.

Miami 2026 quarterback commit Dereon Coleman got to watch the Hurricanes defeat the Florida Gators, but in the stands at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium. Tomorrow Coleman will take in his first Miami home game this season.

Two weeks ago, Miami running backs coach Matt Merritt swung through Forney (Tx.) to check up on four-star 2026 running back Javian Osborne during the Hurricanes’ bye week. This weekend, Osborne will return the favor when he visits Miami for the Hurricanes’ home game against Florida State.

Plus Bradenton (Fla.) Berkeley Prep four-star 2026 offensive tackle Johnnie Jones will get his first game-day look at Miami.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Watching FSU film review our secondary … Posted by pslcane

Interesting different perspective. They showed one play where our cb watched the Louisville wr run a post route and didn’t cover him . No safety help. Easy completion for a TD. The reviewer said “ The cornerback for some reason thinks they’re in zone, but are actually in man to man.” Wow, just basic **** that you would think a high school or junior high cb would know. Many additional examples of the safeties out of position, the defense backs taking bad angles or missing tackles. We all see it during the game, but when you see the breakdown on film, it’s even worse than you think.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It needs a lot of fixing, every part of the field from the defensive line, linebacker and secondary. We haven’t played our best ball, we know that. We just have to all hone in together, play together and keep locking in and take it day by day.”
