WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Stay tuned tonight for The Lamar Thomas Show at 8 p.m., which promises – as always – to be informative and entertaining.

And if you missed CaneSport Live last night, it’s not too late to tune in as Gary Ferman, Matt Shodell and Bruce Warner talked all things Canes with fans.

There’s also football news for you today. We break down the wide receivers position in our Midseason Grading The Canes feature, and perhaps some information in there will surprise you.

We also take a closer look at what we learned about Miami’s offense off the Cal game … and look ahead. What kind of challenges remain? Don’t miss that, either.

Plus there’s your stats and highlights of former Canes in the NFL off their weekend performances.

In recruiting there was of course the big news that West Broward (Fla.) four-star wide receiver Joshua Moore flipped his commitment from the Florida Gators to the Canes. We had you fully covered with that including an analysis of what his pickup means. And we had other recruiting updates as well.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Oaks Christian four-star EDGE and USC commit Hayden Lowe plans to return to Miami for the Hurricanes’ Oct. 26 game against Florida State, the 6-foot-3, 227-pound prospect tells CaneSport. Don’t miss where things stand there.

Also of note: Miami four-star tight end pledges Luka Gilbert and Brock Schott have remained solid in their commitments to the Hurricanes, and tight ends coach Cody Woodiel still dropped by their schools Monday to check up on the future Canes. We have that news and their feedback.

Another update: Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna three-star Miami defensive tackle commit Donta Simpson has always had an advanced skillset and the talent to be a major Power Conference football player. And through the first half of the 2025 Miami commit’s senior season, the game is finally slowing down for the No. 551 overall prospect in the On3 Industry Ranking. We catch up with his coach to talk about it.

There’s also our new 100 Yards feature to check out, as Izubee Charles goes 100 yards with elite 2028 QB and Miami target Neimann Lawrence.

In basketball recruiting we catch up with Putnam Science Academy (CT) four-star center Ben Ahmed as he comes off his UM official visit and has set his announcement date. We feel there’s a decent chance with him, so don’t miss that update.

Plus we have basketball news for you with the season starting at the end of the month. Don’t miss what coach Jim Larranaga is saying about this year’s new-look team.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Bye is good timing for Miami heading into Louisville game … Posted by CANESCANESCANESCANES

This bye sets up perfectly for Miami to get healthy and get right physically and mentally for the next stretch of the season

Louisville on the other hand played 2 cup cakes then had their first bye week to start the season, now they have played GT, ND, SMU, Virginia before they play us.

This should be a massive advantage for Miami to come out strong and fast against a tired and beat up Louisville team.

“Normally when people ask how we’re doing, I say we’re undefeated. Kids are impacted by wins and losses a lot, so right now there are no wins or losses, and we’re just practicing and playing, and they are enjoying themselves. The real challenge will come with their chemistry and bonding. What will they do when the season starts?”
