WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Of course we had you fully covered from Saturday’s tough loss with Gary Ferman’s column, post-game interviews with Mario Cristobal and players, our position by position grading column, key takeaways from the game, Pro Football Focus grades, Gary Ferman answering all your post-game questions on the message board, our game analysis story and much more.

There’s also a closer look at where things stand with ACC tiebreakers as it pertains to UM still making the title game, with the Canes still controlling their own destiny.

We also have your update this morning on who is redshirting, who isn’t and the performance of the freshmen.

And don’t miss Matt Shodell’s big picture column on the team, the playoff picture and more.

Plus the basketball team beat Binghamton, and we had your news off that.

In recruiting?

We talk with four-star 2025 quarterback commit Luke Nickel, who was on hand at the game Saturday. He still has full faith in the Hurricanes despite the loss.

Anoter update: Baylin Trujillo has trained his share of quarterbacks from players like former UCF quarterback McKenzie Milton to high-end 2026 blue-chip prospects like Brady Hart and Noah Grubbs. And he doesn’t have a problem calling 2026 Miami four-star quarterback commit Dereon Coleman the best arm talent he’s trained. Don’t miss what he’s saying about Coleman.

Another update is with Savannah (Ga.) Benedictine Military School four-star 2026 defensive tackle Kameron Cody. As the 6-foot-3, 280-pound prospect’s stock has continued to climb this fall, his interest in Miami has, too.

Baltimore (Md.) Georgetown Prep five-star offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho is also in Miam’s picture as a coveted 2026 prospect. From Canes head coach Mario Cristobal to offensive line coaches Alex Mirabal and Edwin Pata, Iheanacho is feeling the love from Miami, which has positioned itself in a great spot early in his recruitment.

Another five-star we catch up with is Joppa (Md.) St. Frances Academy EDGE Zion Elee. He breaks down his thoughts on the Canes, including talking about his upcoming UM visit.

Don’t miss our update with Miami (Fla.) Central four-star 2025 safety and Hurricanes commit Amari Wallace, either. He missed his senior season after fracturing his tibia in a football-related injury over the summer and shares his progress.

Also, after backing off his verbal pledge from the Mississippi State Bulldogs, the Miami Hurricanes wasted no time offering Airline (La.) High School 2026 wide receiver Kenny Darby, who likes what he has seen from the Hurricanes.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Calmed down: thoughts on the game … Posted by

1st this was bound to happen. We have been playing with fire outside of the FLA game all yr

We are still now a well coached team. Folks like Gary can say we are not talented enough. We are in year 3. You mean to tell me by year 3 this team still comes out flat with no sense of urgency? Undisciplined and fundamentally unsound. That’s coaching folks. That last play by Ga tech undeniably showed that this a poorly coached team. A 5th yr senior in Mauigoa did not know where to go. There was arguing amongst players as to who should go out on the back. Instead of the 5th yr senior in his second yr in the same D getting folks lined up he was just as confused as everyone else. That’s not talent. That’s lack of understanding the defense and being fundamentally unsound.

Let’s not leave out the offense. For some reason outside of FLA we forget about the run game and then try to go to it late. We call screens where we are a horrible screen blocking team. We are 10 games in and it’s the same thing every week. not new things but the SAMETHING EVERY WEEK. It was the same last yr and the yr before. No sense of urgency in the beginning of games. Players lacking discipline and being fundamentally unsound there is no way we should be so bad in the secondary in yr 3. We also should not be having to go into the portal strong this off season either. We have brought in back to back top 10 classes. We have brought in guys on the offensive line and defensive line. We brought in linebackers we brought in secondary players. We bought in WRs, TE and running backs. If we have to go into the portal to get players at these positions then this shows that we fundamentally LACK the coaches that can EVALUATE, COACH AND DEVELOP THE TALENT WE BRING IN and if that is the case then I don’t blame the Jeremiah Smith’s and Pickets of this world. It’s been a good season thanks to Cam. Most of us realized offensively we were just missing a competent QB. But overall this team needs better coaching and player development

“Obviously disappointing. We didn’t do a good enough job, didn’t play well enough, but we didn’t coach good enough. Credit to them for playing better and coaching better than we did.”
