WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, be sure to stay tuned tonight for the huge Miami vs. Kentucky basketball game. Coach Jim Larranaga and Norchad Omier share their thoughts, and we have that as part of our big game preview.

Going back to football, there was of course the news last night that QB Tyler Van Dyke has entered the transfer portal. We brought you that.

Now let’s get defensive. The Miami Hurricane regular season improved from a 5-7 record to 7-5, and the defense in particular made some big strides. We break that down for you.

We also take a closer look at another potential portal QB that Miami would do really well to land – Tulane’s Michael Pratt. Why he might be a great option for the Canes if he passes up going pro and opts to transfer? We break that down.

And we continue our position by position series, this time looking deeper at running back with an analysis of what may happen there moving forward. There’s also your weekly Canes in the NFL series.

Plus in recruiting we have a closer big picture look at where things stand for the Miami Hurricanes in the Class of 2024 with signing day now less than a month away.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Proud Of This Team: Players & Coaches … Posted by advarkas

How many times did this team quit last year? Blown out by teams left and right. Coordinators fired. Culture was toxic beyond belief.

These players played hard every game for each other and the coaches and the Program. No quitting, no bullshvting, no tanking, no blaming. Don’t recall any players being suspended for nonsense – team was focused on football on year.

A botched kneel down and poor QB play for a month – team could easily be 9-3 looking at a 10-win season. Dawson is a good coordinator. Guidry is a good coordinator. Team has solid mix of older and younger impact players.

Proud of the team.
Disappointed in the wins and losses.
But proud of this team and the direction in which we are headed.

Need to fix the QB issue as a top priority. 1-2 more recruiting classes. Goal next year should be 9-3/10-2 and top-3 ACC.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It’s the Wild Wild West, trying to figure out who to keep, who to help, who is staying, who is going, just be as professional as possible, do what is the absolute best for the program. Try to keep people from getting in the ears (of players) and giving them false information, give them the best information we can. And we need another big recruiting haul, another 30+ guys of the mold of Rueben Bain, Mark Fletcher, Damari Brown. Another really, really good class and some portal guys.”
