MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Reevaluating our transfers … Posted by cortez55403

Several posters have criticized the quality and contributions of our transfer players. No KJ Osborn or Rambo at WR. No J Phillips at DE. True that. In particular, Matt Shodell (whom I generally agree with) has criticized the number of transferees who will clog our roster and block recruitment of top high school players.

But, I disagree. Let’s see how our transfer guys are playing:

Defense:
*our DL starters now include 3 transfers: Mesidor, Jackson and Agude. Moultrie and Lichtenstein add depth at DT. We would be devastated without these 5 guys.

*Finally, 40 Johnson has joined 11 as a starter. He led the team in tackles vs UVA

*at DB, 2 Stevenson saved the game at least once in OT last week. Porter provides depth and might compete to start next year.

Offense:

*Oluwesean started on the OL before getting hurt. Dennis and Sagapolu add depth but have been a bit disappointing. Ladson and Young are now starters at WR. Young is our number 1 wideout.

*Parrish is our best offensive weapon. Tough and dependable

Bottom line: our transfers are not number 1 picks like J Phillips. But, they’ve supplied multiple starters to our lineup and added unquestionable depth to our team. For 2023, I’m hoping Mario hits the Portal hard to seek starters/strong contributors at OL, WR, maybe RB, DT big time, and LB. CB only for a sure starter. Need to win in 2023.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“We’ve been playing good, could be playing great. The biggest thing is we just don’t take plays off, you know? Play every play perfectly, that’s what the goal would be. Sometimes we get beat on stuff we know, and we have to fix that.”
