WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news? Tonight is the season-opener for men’s and women’s basketball, and we’ll have you covered with that.
And of course we had you fully covered from Saturday’s game with Gary Ferman’s column, post-game interviews with Mario Cristobal and players, our position by position grading column, key takeaways from the game, Pro Football Focus grades, Gary Ferman answering all your post-game questions on the message board, our game analysis story and much more.
There’s Matt Shodell’s column this morning taking a big picture view of where things stand with UM 9-0 … but with some issues that still need correcting.
We also take a closer look at where the ACC race stands now, with Miami and SMU atop the standings. Are the Canes going to be in the title game now even if they drop a game? See those scenarios.
And stay tuned today for coaches Mario Cristobal, Lance Guidry and Shannon Dawson sharing their thoughts.
Plus there’s our basketball Inside The Lines feature with the Cavinder twins to check out.
In recruiting?
Nixa (Mo.) Five-Star Plus+ 2026 offensive tackle and No. 2 overall prospect Jackson Cantwell came in from Missouri for the game, and the Hurricanes made a strong impression on the No. 1 offensive tackle in next year’s class during his first visit to South Florida. Find out about that.

Another five-star that visited was Reidsville (N.C.) tight end Kendre Harrison. We catch up with him and you don’t want to miss that, either.
Also visiting for the game was Collins Hill (Ga.) defensive lineman Deuce Geralds. His take now?
And Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna 2026 top-25 prospect and No. 1 running back Derrek Cooper visited Miami for the third time this season Saturday as the Hurricanes are making their case for the four-star prospect. We catch up with him.
Reidsville (N.C.) five-star 2026 tight end Kendre Harrison was impressed by what he saw from Miami’s football team Saturday during the Hurricanes’ 53-31 win over Duke. And Sunday, the No. 1 tight end in the class and a dual-sport blue-chip athlete spent time around the Canes’ basketball program too. Get his take.
We also have an Inside The Lines feature with Pembroke Pines (Fla.) West Broward four-star receiver Joshua Moore you can check out.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
Great Win Against A Good Team … Posted by advarkas
I saw this Duke team first hand against SMU last week. Duke should have been 7-1 coming into this game. Malik Murphy was a high 4 start recruit and Duke is highly competitive – I can’t stand Manny but he’s done a damn good job with that Duke team. Had this Canes team on the ropes for 40 minutes.
thought the adjustments at halftime to go more Zone on defense was pivotal, and Martinez does such an awesome job of grinding out 3-4 yards all the time to help with down and distance. He and Fletcher are such a formidable 1-2 combo at RB.
Cam was and always has been special. Who gives a shvt about the INT throw across his body. He had 400 yards and 5 TDs. If you think Cam Ward makes bad decisions then you’re old or not paying attention or both. He’s the most talented QB in Miami history. Maybe Jim Kelly who was recruited to play LB at Penn State under JoPa had that kind of physical alpha presence but Ward probably is #1 for me.
Truly special to see.
