SILLY SEASON SALE FOR NEW SUBSCRIBERS: $1 FOR 7 DAYS!

WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We had you fully covered from Saturday’s tough loss with Gary Ferman’s column, post-game interviews with Mario Cristobal and players, our position by position grading column, key takeaways from the game, Pro Football Focus grades, Gary Ferman answering all your post-game questions on the message board, our game analysis story and much more.

There’s also a closer look at the playoff picture and where Miami now stands … on the outside looking in but with a chance. Ferman also shares his take on why UM has a case to be in the playoffs despite the defeat.

Plus signing day is coming up Wednesday, so stay tuned for CaneSport for more updates heading into that.

You can read about one of the signees coming up – New Iberia (La.) Westgate four-star cornerback Jaboree Antoine. He has turned his focus on getting back to 100 percent after suffering a knee injury earlier this fall and will make things official with UM soon.

Buzz also has picked up Miami could be in danger of potentially losing four-star safety Hylton Stubbs to Florida. We have an update on that situation. The same goes for IMG Academy four-star linebacker commit Gavin Nix, one of Miami’s two linebacker commits in the 2025 class, with Oregon looking to officially flip him.

We also update the situation with Tampa (Fla.) Armwood four-star 2025 linebacker Kellen Wiley. Things remain alive there. Also still alive? Well, Ohio State remains the undisputed leader for Vero Beach (Fla.) four-star Buckeyes linebacker commit TJ Alford, but Miami isn’t giving up on the No. 134 overall prospect and No. 14 linebacker in the On3 Industry Ranking. Read about that.

Plus we had a three-pack of Live From The Crib features on Friday night to check out.

And there are plenty more recruiting updates for you.

Marianna (Fla.) four-star 2026 running back Amari Clemons will finish the year with only two game-day visits this fall: one to Gainesville for Florida’s home opener against Miami and one Saturday for Alabama’s home game against Auburn. But Miami is very much in it.

And Waukee (Iowa) four-star 2026 tight end Evan Jacobson visited his share of schools this fall between trips to Miami, Penn State, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Arkansas, Auburn, Stanford, Wisconsin, Missouri and Colorado. But the Hurricanes are among the schools whose game-day visits stood out to the rank tight end. Get his take.

Miami (Fla.) Central 2026 three-star linebacker Karon Maycock hasn’t yet emerged as a blockbuster recruiting name like some of Central’s previously coveted prospects like current Hurricanes Wesley Bissainthe, Reuben Bain and Armondo Blount, but Miami has made as strong an effort as any program through the fall of his junior season. Get the latest on that.

Miami fans know plenty about former Hurricane Booker Pickett, his oldest son (and current Hurricane) Booker Pickett Jr. and his nephew, Five-Star Plus+ LSU 2025 cornerback commit DJ Pickett. But his younger son — four-star 2026 interior offensive lineman Canon Pickett — has already emerged as a player to watch in next year’s class. We have your update with him.

Another update is with Tampa (Fla.) Berkley Prep four-star 2026 offensive tackle Johnnie Jones. Miami’s made a strong impression on him.

We also catch up with Painesville (Ohio) Harvey four-star running back Shahn Alston, who landed a Miami offer recently and shares how that shakes up his recruiting picture.

Plus we have an update with Vero Beach (Fla.) four-star interior offensive lineman Micah Smith. He holds over 40 offers, but now the 2026 prospect has narrowed that list down to six schools … including Miami.

The baskeball team also lost a shocker to Charleston Southern, and we had that news. And stay tuned this afternoon as we’ll catch up with Jim Larranaga and players to get some answers on what is going wrong with the team.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Speed, Pursuit Angles, and Acceleration … Posted by USMCCANE

By other teams defenders makes me think we need to reboot through SC program. I do not see a single dynamic player on our squad. Strong, yes. Fit, yes. Dynamic, no.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

Neil Gershman – Zooba Images

I mean, we earned it (the loss), you know, that’s the bottom line. Can’t shy away from responsibility, accountability. They played better than we did. We had some critical, critical things show up in critical moments. We played hard, fought hard, but not enough, you know? Should be able to close out a game like that and we all have to take responsibility starting with myself.
