WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We have a lot of team analysis for you with spring practice on the horizon. There’s our biggest question mark area on the offense looking ahead to drills, with analysis of why we chose that particular area. We had your Super Bowl look at Miami and how many Canes have played in it in the past and where UM ranks on the list of most productive Super Bowl programs. Plus check out our take on if Shannon Dawson’s offense can come close to matching what Cam Ward & Co. did a year ago, with so many major pieces now gone.

We also wrapped up our annual 30 for 30 countdown with the team’s top 30 players who played 30 or more reps. Check out our final players on the countdown: No. 3 Rueben Bain, No. 2 Carson Beck … and No. 1 Francis Mauigoa. Surprised, anyone?

There’s also tons of recruiting news for you.

Since last November, Delaware (Ohio) Hayes On300 2026 running back Favour Akih, has begun to build a strong relationship with Miami running backs coach Matt Merritt. In January the Hurricanes staffer made his way up to Ohio to check in on the 2026 prospect who is extremely high on the Canes. He shares his thoughts.

Buford (Ga.) four-star 2026 defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright has heard all about Miami from his uncle, Hurricanes legend Ray Lewis. And we have your update on his recruitment.

There’s an update with IMG Academy four-star 2026 interior offensive lineman G’Nivre Carr, who has locked in an official visit with Miami.

Miami (Fla.) Southridge 2026 interior offensive lineman Ryan Miret has also locked in an official visit June 20 and updates his situation.

Another top prospect setting a visit: IMG Academy four-star 2026 offensive guard Breck Kolojay, one of the country’s most coveted prospects in this year’s class.

We also catch up with Tyrone (Ga.) Sandy Creek 2026 four-star running back and Miami native Amari Latimer. The Hurricanes are remaining a top contender there.

We check in with Sarasota (Fla.) Cardinal Mooney four-star interior offensive lineman Da’Ron Parks, who feels like a top priority for the Hurricanes, and update the status of Orlando (Fla.) The First Academy four-star 2026 interior offensive lineman Chancellor Barclay as UM tries to make headway.

Plus check out our latest Inside The Lines feature, this one with West Boca (Fla.) Boca Raton four-star running back Javian Mallory.

In basketball there’s an update we had for you with Weston (Fla.) Sagemnont School four-star shooting guard Matthew Able. He remains the lone signee on board with Ben Ahmed asking for his release. Find out his status. The Canes also faced Louisville over the weekend and we had that recap for you.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

Amari Latimer Miami Hurricanes

“I’d say one thing (about Miami) is it’s home. It’s where I’m from, so that’s one thing that I’ll always have with it for one. And two, I have a family member that played there (former Miami defensive lineman Don Latimer) that did big things down there, so that’s pretty big. And another thing I’ll say is the relationship I have with coach Mario Cristobal and coach Matt Merritt, I feel like they treat the kids well. I asked some of the players how they feel about the culture and everything, and they loved it. It’s one of the best cities to live.”
