WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
There was, of course, the big news that broke yesterday that former Miami Hurricane DL Damione Lewis is joining Miami from Colorado as the new DT coach working alongside Jason Taylor. We had that for you plus a closer look at his mentality when it comes to coaching players.
And this morning we also break down the five biggest position battles for UM that will help determine the team’s success as the Canes look to make a playoff run in 2025.
Also check out why On3’s J.D. PicKell is a big believer in what QB Carson Beck can accomplish at Miami in 2025. And Andy Staples lists Corey Hetherman as one of college football’s most impactful hires. Find out why.
In recruiting? Plenty more news for you, starting with a closer look at five targets who popped up for Miami in the last month.
More updates:
Fort Myers (Fla.) four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil is narrowing things down and the Miami Hurricanes are on his mind after a pair of visits from Canes head coach Mario Cristobal and new defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman. Find out his thoughts.
We also catch up with Orlando (Fla.) Jones 2026 receiver Larry Miles, who is showing plenty of interest in the Hurricanes.

A top target who has set an OV is Miami (Fla.) Central 2026 three-star linebacker Karon Maycock. The Canes are in a good spot there.
Plus UM is set to host Homestead (Fla.) South Dade four-star defensive back Tedarius Hughes for an official visit on May 30 with hopes of potentially flipping the Florida State commit. So don’t miss what he’s talking about.
There’s also your baseball preview with the season set to begin on Friday night, and hopes are high the team can turn things around off a rough 2024. We also have a feature with new ace Nick Robert, who makes the transition from the bullpen a year ago.
And the basketball team won its second ACC game behind Matthew Cleveland’s 32 points, beating Syracuse 91-84. We have that for you as well.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY
Spring practice take … Posted by Dolcane
Spring will be interesting.
I’m assuming Beck will not be ready so Emory will be QB1.
Last year coaches were high on him because they saw him throwing vs a really crappy pass defense in practice. Once he got in a game against a team with a pulse, he was terrible.
This spring, the DB’s should be miles ahead of last year.
This should be interesting.

“I just love the receivers coach,” Miles said. “The way he coaches, I just love him. And (Mario) Cristobal is a real guy, and obviously my quarterback is (committed) so it all makes sense.”
