WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Don’t miss our closer look at the defensive side of the ball. After the failures of last season, is it fair to expect a big jump up under a new coordinator? We think so and explain why.

We also continue our annual 30 for 30 countdown with the team’s top 30 players who played 30 or more reps. Check out our latest player on the countdown: No. 4, CB OJ Frederique. Off a standout true freshman season and with the new transfer corners coming in, he should help headline a totally revamped position.

In recruiting? Our coverage starts with a look at several top prospects Miami made big strides with during the contact period. And there are plenty of more updates.

A five star who is planning multiple UM visits, including an OV, is Erwinville (La.) University Lab five-star interior offensive lineman Lamar Brown. Find out his thoughts on the Canes and where things stand.

Another update: Last week, when Miami head coach Mario Cristobal and defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman visited Douglas County (Ga.) High School, three-star cornerback Jamar Owens did not have an offer from the Hurricanes. That quickly changed after the trio sat down and watched the 2026 prospects find, which led to the Canes offering Owens. Find out what he’s saying with an OV in the works.

Another update: Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman three-star 2026 EDGE Prince Williams is looking to take a spring unofficial visit to Miami in late March and we catch up with him.

We also talk with Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage four-star 2027 receiver Ah’Mari Stevens. His Miami commitment came as somewhat of a surprise to Hurricanes fans last month when he became the first pledge in the Canes’ 2027 class.

Plus a new offer went out yesterday to North Cobb Christian School (Ga.) 2027 quarterback Teddy Jarrard, so don’t miss his thoughts.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Mario reminds of butch … posted by Canesfan12+

Mario reminds me of butch because butch didn’t recruit top tier guys, he recruited guys who are diamonds in the rough. Mario’s been doing that to with getting Luke Nickel and Kellen Wiley who are both guys who aren’t highly rated players coming out.

“I feel like it was a great decision,” Stevens said. “The Miami fans have been showing me love and it’s been feeling great since I committed. It just feels like home. I’ve been talking to a lot of other coaches, but there’s nothing like what coach (Mario) Cristobal and coach Kevin Beard have been talking about. I feel like nothing can match them even though I have two years left. I just feel like there’s nothing else.”
