WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Well, you know what today is, right? The start of spring practice. So stay tuned this morning as we’ll be giving you all the details from Greentree, and after practice we’ll have feedback from Mario Cristobal and the team. So it will be a very busy day on the CaneSport site.

To hold you over till then?

This morning we take a broad overview heading into the first practice, so don’t miss that bigger picture analysis.

We also continue our pre-spring coverage with keys to keep an eye on as spring drills commence on both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.

There’s our continuing spring prospectus looks at the freshmen early enrollees, their backgrounds and how they project at Miami in Year 1. So check out our features on Jaden Wilkerson, Amari Wallace, Jaboree Antoine, Ezekiel Marcelin, Mykah Newton, Donta Simpson, Herbert Scroggins, Kellen Wiley and Hayden Lowe.

And there was our full NFL Combine coverage with 10 Canes invited – we had your live results and what Cam Ward, Xavier Restrepo and Elijah Arroyo were saying. So check all that out.

In recruiting be sure to check out all our coverage from the Under Armour Next Camp Miami, from previewing the camp to catching up with top targets like MVP QB Dereon Coleman, who is a Miami commit, 4-star RB Javian Mallory (who is visiting for practice today), 4-star RB Derrek Cooper, 4 star Michigan commit and Miami legacy Brody Jennings, Miami commit Jordan Campbell, 4-star Florida commit Devin Jackson who was recently offered by Miami, 2027 4-Star Miami commit Ah’Mari Stevens, 4-Star FSU commit and Miami Flip Target Tedarius Hughes, 4-star WR Messiah Hampton and FSU 4-star commit Karon Maycock, who Miami is trying to flip. There’s also Stephen Wagner and Izubee Charles breaking it all down with their podcast after the event.

And there’s plenty more.

Among the visitors joining Mallory at today’s practice will be Mineral City (Ohio) Tuscarawas Valley four-star 2026 offensive tackle Ben Congdon. He’s ready for a second trip to Coral Gables, and we talk with him.

Another visitor? Bogart (Ga.) Prince Avenue Christian 2027 running back Andrew Beard, so find out what he’s saying heading into it.

A visitor coming later in spring is Tampa (Fla.) Jesuit four-star linebacker Kaden Henderson. So find out what he’s talking about.

Another update: Carrollton (Ga.) four-star defensive back Dorian Barney recently announced his Top 12, which saw the Miami Hurricanes make the cut. A big reason for that?

New Orleans (La.) Edna Carr three-star 2026 cornerback Hayward Howard Jr. has locked in an official visit to Miami, so find out what he’s saying.

Anaheim (Calif.) Servite three-star 2026 tight end Luke Sorensen is also a Miami target we catch up with – see why he’s a name to know.

And, of course, we had your recaps off the baseball team’s first big test at No. 6 Florida, with the Canes taking one of three. So you can read about that weekend series. Plus there was your recap of the basketball team’s loss over the weekend at North Carolina.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Passing game / offense thoughts … Posted by 289FIA

Too much talent in this group NOT to have at least 2 WR’s to step up to the challenge, along with a TE. Then we have the RB’s catching out of the backfield. Beck and Nickel should have plenty of reliable targets, and with a solid run game, the offense should be productive.

Dorian Barney. (On3)

“Miami is building. Last year they didn’t make the playoffs, but they should’ve. They’re building, and I can see a big future for them.”
