WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

We break down Miami’s new-look offense in 2025 using Pro Football Focus metrics to get a clear view of the roster’s strengths and weaknesses for this upcoming season.

In recruiting news, we have several updates on some of Miami’s top targets in the 2026 class. First, we catch up with Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna four-star wide receiver Jasen Lopez, one of the biggest risers in the latest On300 rankings update released Monday. The Hurricanes are in the mix for the South Florida standout, who has drawn interest from several top programs across the country.

Another key offensive target for Miami is Brunswick (Ga.) four-star tight end Heze Kent. Although he hasn’t named a leader in his recruitment, the Hurricanes are firmly in the mix alongside Florida, Georgia Tech, Texas, Florida State, and Alabama.

In the 2027 class, we check in with Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas four-star offensive tackle and No. 2 overall prospect Mark Matthews, who says Miami is making a strong impression early in his recruitment.

We also have some transfer portal news on former Cincinnati wide receiver Tony Johnson and Boise State defensive tackle Braxton Fely who will both visit Miami this week.

On the hardwood, Miami head coach Jai Lucas and the Hurricanes landed a commitment from Houston (Texas) Bellaire four-star small forward Shelton Henderson. Make sure to check out what he had to say about his pledge to Miami and more.

Lastly, we go Inside The Lines with Montverde (Fla.) four-star shooting guard and Miami commit Dante Allen, who discusses his commitment to the Hurricanes and more.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“My relationship with Coach Lucas was a huge factor in my decision,” Henderson added.
“Me and the Lucas family are pretty much family at this point. I’ve been working with them since I was in sixth grade. I’ve been in the gym with the Lucas family for a while now, so it was an easy decision knowing I’ll have them in my corner at all times.”
