WHAT’S UP TODAY
First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?
Of course there was the big news last night that Oklahoma transfer CB Jaden Davis has joined Miami out of the transfer portal. You can read all about that. Also check out our story on Louisiana Tech DT Keivie Rose, who is set to visit Miami this weekend.
Plus CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman answers all your early May questions.
And be sure to check out the Hot 11 feature we have on the site as well – in this feature we take rank 11 Miami newcomers (true freshmen or transfers) in order of how we think they might make an impact on this year’s team, with analysis.
We began a series breaking down the top 5 breakout players for the coming season gleaned from what we heard about and saw with our own eyes this spring. At No. 5 we have WR Isaiah Horton, at No. 4 Jacolby George, No. 3 Daryl Porter, Jr. and this morning we’re up to No. 2 Nyjalik Kelly, with our explanation on each.
In recruiting?
Miami defensive coordinator Lance Guidry and co-defensive line coach Jason Taylor visited Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy to watch four-star 2024 EDGE Marquise Lightfoot’s pro day-style workout Monday morning as Hurricanes coaches attack the Midwest. We have that update.

And on Friday it was Miami offensive line coach Alex Mirabal and secondary coach Jahmile Addae that made separate trips to Clearwater (Fla.) Academy International to check up on 2024 four-star center Jason Zandamela and Miami three-star safety commit Isaiah Thomas, the former of whom Miami is pushing hard to land and the latter the Hurricanes are trying to shore up. Find out about that.
Plus we have an update with Huntersville (SC.) Williams Amos High School 2026 defensive back Samari Matthews. He has landed a Miami offer and shares his thoughts.
And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.
