WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

There was the huge news of 4-star RB Kevin Riley’s commitment last night, of course. We had full coverage of that for you including a breakdown of his ability and what he brings to the table for Miami.

And this morning we have more recruiting updates for you, too.

And a huge one is with 5-star official visitor Justin Scott from over the weekend. The Chicago (Ill.) St. Ignatius DL has Miami atop his list and fills in the details. So don’t miss that.

Be sure to check out our interview with 4-star EDGE Marquise Lightfoot. The Chicago (Ill.) Kenwood Academy standout talks about his upcoming Hurricanes official visit and names a top 3. Yes, the Canes are in that group.

Another update is with Keller (Tx.) All Saints Episcopal 2025 quarterback Kelden Ryan, the No. 412 prospect in next year’s cycle. He has more than a dozen offers, including a Miami offer from coordinator Shannon Dawson, and is visiting UM today. Don’t miss his thoughts heading into it.

We also have an update on a recent commit, Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman four-star tight end Elija Lofton. We take a closer look at how he can be a dominant player for the Canes, going inside his game.

The top 50 post-spring players on the roster series continues also. It’s a list that doesn’t include any post-spring roster additions. We have your breakdown on No. 3, DL Akheem Mesidor.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

TWEETS OF THE DAY

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

Offense helping the defense discussion … Posted by Clevelandcane

Here’s the path forward for UM this season; it’s by the offense improving overall. This may sound obvious but a lesser discussed benefit of the O playing well is that the D will naturally improve right along with it. That doesn’t work in reverse which means the O HAS to improve for UM to win more. The same can’t be said for the D.

When the O stays on the field, doesn’t turn the ball over, lacks penalties, and moves the ball consistently the defense can rest and usually feeds off the excitement.

The O scoring motivates the D to do their job. The two just work together that much better when the O is even solid. When you have a totally inept O like UM had last year the defense figures why even bother. The O can’t score then the team can’t win.

So while all this may be obvious I thought it was worth mentioning and am interested in hearing others’ thoughts on the subject.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“Miami is somewhere I want to end up. I told coach Jason Taylor that I really see him as my coach and that’s somewhere I want to be. So on this visit, I expect to see his coaching skills, the football side of it, because I already know I’m a great fit at Miami. I told him that I know that. That’s where they’re at.”
